I had a lot higher expectations for this place than delivered. It is in such a nice location. We walked in and it seemed odd, a bar room to the right and restaurant in the back. It seemed like it needed some updating in terms of the seating to match the rest of the decor. Our server was super nice, but not very good. She didn’t check on my son and I much at all. I had to flag her down for a refill. I inquired if there was cheese on the club because it didn’t list cheese on the menu, but the little photo of it looked like there was cheese. She said no, there’s not cheese on it, I said great! And ordered that. As she’s bringing the food out, she said, hun there is cheese on it, and I asked what kind, she said American and Swiss and I said, yeah, no, I don’t want that. (Not to be rude, but she literally should have checked when I asked if she didn’t know, what server does that?). So I said I don’t want it with cheese. She took it away, I assumed they were just gonna peel the cheese off and I was correct, when it came back it looked messy as all hell. And it was cold. So that ruined my meal. My son wanted a pizza and I told him that was too much just for him, so he ordered the pepperoni naan appetizer for his meal and he said it was way too small. They need an in between size pizza. He said it was ok. We won’t be back, only thing that was nice was the view.

Houghton Lake fancy for Lisaā€˜s birthday dinner. Cut River Grille Roscommon i’m thinking fish so I order Guinness to start. Lisa orders a glass of champagne. At this time we put in our appetizer order for truffle risotto stuffed jalapeƱos, which was awesome. The place is not busy. At least 15 minute wait finally waitress comes back and says they don’t serve that champagne by the glass, so we order a different champagne. She asks us if we would like to put in our dinner order since she is back at the table, which we do. Bad decision on our part. I order the butternut squash soup and herb balsamic vinaigrette dinner salad to split. I get the walleye, and Lisa orders the beef stroganoff. Five minutes later, we received the drinks and appetizer. My Guinness was served in the can hardly cracked, all nitrogen leaked out, this is a big no no if you drink Guinness so I ask for a glass. Two minutes later, the glass shows up with soup and salad. Two sips of Guinness later, dinner arrives. As you can see in the picture, everything is on the table at the same time. We laugh it off, and at some point there’s so much on the table I reach over and put my arm into the bowl of soup. Overall, it was really tasty, except my fish was really off. Like funky ash. Poorly timed. Rick- Fish-3.9 Everything else 7.6 Lisa- 7.5

Every time I pass this place, the parking lot is packed. It’s obviously popular, so we took my family out to dinner here. This place is so undeserving of the 4 star rating it has. And I’m really unsure what there is for people to even be unhappy about. My family and I ordered an array of dishes and everything we received was really, really good; including the drinks. Everyone just kept complimenting the food. My wife and dad really enjoyed their Long Island iced teas, my mom loved the escargot. She said the house made herb balsamic dressing on her salad was the best she’s ever had. I tried it and can agree. My daughter’s lobster tail was massive, my Alfredo was made with homemade pasta. It was tasty and the portions were generous. My wife’s ribeye was cooked to perfection and had great flavor. It’s located on a beautiful section of river, nice atmosphere. The staff was very attentive and helpful. Really, what more could you ask for? In the reviews, some people complain about cost. I thought it was very reasonable because it’s high quality food, not an average restaurant. We just found our new favorite local spot and we plan to come back often. A+

You should read this whole thing before visiting. This is my 3rd visit since they reopened as The Cut River Grille. The first visit was to the bar, which is quite nice. They have a decent selection considering the area. 2nd time was for dinner, I got a Ribeye steak. It was cooked as ordered, however the steak itself was lower quality. Not what one would expect for a $40 steak. The meat itself had almost no flavor and they used seasoning to try to improve it. The house veggies were soggy and overseasoned to make up for itm It wasn't terrible, but again, not worth $40. The 3rd and most recent visit may well be my last. We waited nearly 20 minutes to be seated, several servers walked by without even acknowledging us, and they were not very busy at the time either. There was maybe 20 tables being used in the entire restaurant. After being seated in the hottest corner of the bar, we were again left to ourselves for nearly 30 MINUTES waiting for water of all things, all the while watching our server take other people's order and bring out food. I realize if someone was there first they should get their order before us, that's fine. But we had to wait for 2 glasses of water? Cmon. The server we had (I won't name them), seemed entirely uninterested in their job, or providing decent service. They looked bored, and seemed annoyed we were even there. We did not feel welcome in the slightest. We felt utterly forgotten after we were sat. The food came out pretty quickly, which was a nice improvement to things at the time. I had asked for additional napkins which we never got. The waitstaff seemed more content to run around being social with each other over taking care of their customers, and undoubtedly also complain about the lack of tips they receive as a result. The food this time around was decent, but a bit pricey still. This place has a lot of potential considering how popular previous businesses have been here, however they are really falling short. Specifically with the bored, dead-eyed waitstaff and the balance between price and food quality. Streamside had its faults, but was genuinely a better restaurant while it was open, which is sad to say considering how upscale they try to make The Cut River Grille seem...

I recently had an unpleasant experience at the Cut River Grill with my family, which included myself, my husband, our 11-year-old son, and my parents. We were a party of five, and while the food was fine—typical for the area—the service left much to be desired. Our server, was cold, didn't smile, offered no thank yous, and did not check on us. While this was not ideal, we were prepared to overlook it.

When the bill came, it was over $100. We paid in cash, leaving a 20% tip despite the lackluster service. We handed the bill and cash directly to our server and told her we did not need any change, thanking her as we left.

About an hour to an hour and a half later, my dad, who had made the reservation, received three persistent calls from an unknown Roscommon number. On the third call, he answered and was shocked to hear a male manager accusing him of skipping out on the bill. My dad explained that we had handed the cash directly to our server, shared the bill amount, and mentioned the tip amount. The manager asked him to stay on the line while he investigated. Fortunately, another manager, who had cleared our table, confirmed that we had indeed paid with cash.

The male manager then said he would have the server check her till again, but the damage was done. Clearly she was looking for a larger tip than the 20% we left.... We haven't heard back from them since, but we are disgusted by the accusations and the entire process. The manager should have checked the cameras or consulted with other staff members and had the server double-check her till before repeatedly calling and accusing a customer.

This experience has left a bad taste in our mouths. The restaurant's handling of the situation reflects poorly on their customer service and the integrity of their staff. Moving forward, this will be a definite no for us. I would recommend you use your credit or debit card if you choose to visit...

My husband and I stopped in tonight for dinner. The hostess quickly seated us at a hightop table overlooking the patio and said that due to the busyness of the evening, our waitress would be with us in a few minutes. That was no problem for us because we were not in a hurry. However, after many minutes, we began to suspect that we had been forgotten. Sure enough, several of the wait staff started looking over at us and talking among themselves about who was going to wait on us. Actually, the word I should use is arguing over who was supposed to be waiting on us. Now, we were seated very close to where the kitchen is so we could hear everything they were saying. A couple of times, my husband looked at me and said.ā€ Are they talking about us??ā€ We finally got menus and several minutes later someone came to take our drink and dinner order. Again, they started arguing among themselves, just a few feet away from us, how about who was supposed to be waiting on us. My husband finally turned around and saidā€ Can you all please stop arguing and just let us enjoy our dinner!ā€ We did get our dinner and drinks, but after that no one came to check on us, we were not offered any refills on drinks, and I don’t know if there was any dessert menu because we were not offered one. As soon as we finished our plates, the waitress came and picked them up and never said another word to us. We were made to feel like we were a complete burden to them and they couldn’t wait for us to leave. . I also want to mention, that shortly after we sat down, two women were seated in the same area a couple of tables from us and after several minutes they had to ask who their waitress was so they could get water and menus. The wait staff definitely took away the enjoyment of our dinner and we couldn’t wait to leave. We did something that we never ever do… We did not leave a tip and I give no...
