Portage Inn — Restaurant in Gilpin Township

4 people, ordered from one paper menu. Pizza burger, no fries, burger with fries, and an extra order of fries, crispy chicken salad, zucchini planks and Wingdings, mild. 45 minute wait, the extra fries and the pizza burger came - with fries on the side. 15 minutes later the burger and fries came. 10 min later the zucchini planks came. 10 minutes later, after most of us had eaten, the salad came. 5 min after that the wings came. We were the only table there. 2 girls at the bar. One took our order. They spent most of the time talking to a kid at the bar. An hour and ten minutes to get a salad. The idea of going out to eat was to EAT TOGETHER. Which didn’t happen. The simplest thing to make took an hour and 10 minutes. Never again. The basics of being a waitress : those are severely lacking. The waitress did say they had a staffing problem. You bet they do. If 3 people cannot serve one table, that says the staff work ethic is nowhere near the restaurant. I noted the bill came pretty fast. I paid the bill, and left a tip because that’s customarily what I do. Enjoy it. I shall never patronize this...

Went there tonight at 6:30 .ordered are food about 6:35. At 7:35 I went up to bar and this taking awful long time.Bartender which was also our waitress said we had yo call in reinforcements.I said in jest we'll I'm about ready to leave. And she "well if that's what you want to do" So I walked out the door. 5 minutes she went upto the table where my family was sitting and are inside going to leave too. My daughter said how much longer is it going to be. She said 20 minutes. So they all left too. That's 6 customers they lost. Won't be going back until she's gone. We gave them lots if business. This is a restaurant that was purchased from the previous owner. This is a family friendly venue; it's not merely another bar.

The food was terrific. I had the Godfrey Chicken Fresica. The chicken was so tender, and it actually tasted like chicken. You know, some places that serve chicken somehow manage to cook the bejesus and the flavor out of the end product.

Eat here, your will enjoy it.
