This place was pretty awesome! My husband and I have never dined in Glastonbury, and we wanted to try something different. We made a few stops at different locales, but they were PACKED and honestly too noisy. We found Beamhouse and thank God for that!!
Let's start with location: This place is situated in what appears to be a new apartment community/development. It's a very quiet, clean and well manicured area. Once you arrive and start walking towards the restaurant, you're greeted with a lovely man-made waterfall to your left; should you wish to dine outside (weather permitting) this would be so lovely!! As you walk inside, you're met with a fairly wide corridor that has large whisky barrel tables on your left and a separate semi enclosed tap room on your right...it's perfect for those who don't want to sit at the bar and only want drinks! At the end is the host(ess) who will seat you in the main dining room/bar section. The room itself has a rustic/industrial feel, not really decorated in any sense, it's very neutral and clean, with high ceilings and great acoustics. When we arrived, it was decently filled, but as the night progressed, it was pretty packed, but not noisy!
Service: Hosts were kind and relaxed. Most busy places you sometimes get the feel like everyone's either on edge or they couldn't care less to give you a wait time frame. Once seated, our waitress, Kristin, was great! She knew her drinks, she knew her specials, she knew her menu. We're Gluten and Dairy free and she was amazing in checking with the chef to see if things were safe for us. They were very accommodating with our diet and really wanted us to enjoy the food! We couldn't really do desserts based off their menu, but we're not sweets folks anyway, so, not really disappointed!
Drinks: I ordered the Bramble on Rosie and my husband, the Farm to Face Margarita (apple). These were great starters. Mine was a high glass and my husband's was in a highball-ish sized glass. Both drinks were perfect for the crisp Fall weather. While I loved mine, it was very warm and gingery, I liked his a lot more as I like my drinks more on the bitter/stiffer side; hubby liked mine better so we alternated drinks. For dinner, I ordered the Rezebal "Txakoli" (white), then I ordered the Hermanos PeciƱa Crianza (red). Both were good wines, preferred the red, however. Husband ordered Amaro Nonino (wasn't his favorite, but he pushed through), I personally wasn't a fan either--not the restaurants fault, it's a matter of taste here!
Food: We ordered the following apps - Sesame Tuna, Crispy Pork Belly, Rustic Chips with a Balsamic Reduction Sriracha Aioli. I liked the sesame tuna, pork belly was good (slightly tough, heading towards the pork chop territory tough, but flavor was great!), could have done without the chips, while they were good, nothing super special here I feel. For dinner, I ordered a dry (no dressing) Kale Caesar Salad with Rosemary Chicken and hubby had the Special: DUCK. My salad was great!, but I felt the chicken breast slices could have been more moist. Husbands duck was amazing in flavor- can never go wrong there!. Dinner portions were not huge, but as it should be for one person, especially after having ordered apps. We ended up wrapping the Crispy Pork Belly and the Chicken from my salad.
All in all our experience was great. Pricing was moderate with the food portions and flavors. Our server didn't rush us, but also didn't let us kind of "take our time", she had a nice way of getting us (my husband) through dinner and forcing us to be decisive---she was super attentive without being overbearing and seriously ROCKED! I would definitely come back here for dinner again! Would love to try their brunch. NOTE: This place is great for groups. However, while we were able to walk in (party of two), I suggest to call ahead for reservations no matter what the...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI had a very weird and uncomfortable experience here. It DEFINITELY seemed as though there was a stereotype/bias against people of color. They didnāt give us any seating options and immediately chose to put us in a back room. I went on for Easter with my family to celebrate (party of 6). We check in and they tell us itās a 30 minute wait. So we waited in the hallway area and ordered drinks while we patiently waited. An hour passed by and during that hour, Iāve seen multiple people leaving and being seated. I follow up on our table and when it will be ready and they told me just a few more minutes. I realize that thereās a back patio so I ask the hostess if I (myself) may go out there while I wait (to get air)(not knowing there was platio seating). She responded āWe already got you a seat inside weāre waiting for, you want to go out there to just look around?ā It was such a weird response but I said yes to get air. I then came back inside and asked, why did they have us waiting for now over an hour when there was patio seating, bar seating, and two indoor smaller tables next to eachother that can fit my party of 6. She responded āYou didnāt ask for patio seating.ā (Itās my first time there, I didnāt know there was patio seating). Then I asked here, where did she plan on seating us? She responded āIn the back room.ā I asked why in the back room? She responded āItās a private room and can fit 20 people.ā It made me feel incredibly uncomfortable as we didnāt need a private ābackā room and there was available seating at the bar, inside, and at the patio. We wanted to leave but we ordered food while we waited in the hallway area and felt it would be wrong to leave after ordering. Sadly, we stayed. I requested that we sit on the patio instead of continuing to wait for the āback private roomā to be available (now weāll over an hour). The manager seemed nice, he apologized and offered us a round of drinks. That however, doesnāt change the fact that this experience was truly uncomfortable for me and my family. French...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI went in this place last Saturday for Happy Hour, unfortunately it wasnāt. There is a female bartender who is not very attentive or just canāt be bothered. I ordered a clarified marg from her and then she went across the bar and made the drink. After she made the drink she was distracted by a conversation with a customer and she just left my drink there on the counter next to her. It was very obvious the conversation she was having was much more important than serving her customer. A male bartender came from the back kitchen and asked me what I wanted to drink. Again i told him a clarified marg. He made me the drink and took my food order and delivered it. The original marg I ordered still just sat there and yes she was still engaged in this conversation for some time afterward. I was just amazed on how this woman made me a drink and then just let it sit there. Then when I wanted to pay it took me a 1/2 hr to be cashed out because she just couldnāt see my card on the bar. Again the guy came back and helped me out. I had my card in the bar for some time, she even looked at it and walked away. Thank God for the male bartender who was in and out at the time. Otherwise I would have had no service at all. I donāt know if she has an attention or priority problem but sheās not a good bartender. The styling of the restaurant is nice and the food is not bad, I was even greeted by so nice girls when I walked in but man, they gotta do something about that female bartend who obviously...
