Superb comes to mind! I’m delighted that the new owners took over. It’s like night and day. The decor is the first thing that overwhelms you when walking into the place; the stone, the woodwork, and the subtle ambiance is appealing to the senses. My waitress, Fran, did a great job at making sure I was a satisfied customer throughout my meal. She’s the type of person to go the extra mile and is an asset to the establishment. I was concerned about the prices on the menu ($$$.) The meal and portion didn’t disappoint! I was served enough food for leftovers, both dinner AND dessert. The menu choices, dinner specials, and desserts were alluring to the palate and made me salivate. I had a hard time deciding what to choose. I was glad to see they offered burgers - they are a cheaper alternative to a larger, more expensive meal. It would be nice to see more of those choices on the menu. I’m told they use locally-sourced produce in their cooking. 😋 My one and only criticism would have to be the lack of handicapped parking. There is only one designated spot, that’s it, which happened to be occupied at the time I arrived there. I hope the owners will take that issue into consideration for the future. Otherwise, I left an extremely satisfied customer with 1/2 my meal/dessert, which will be tomorrow’s lunch. Thank you for the experience. I give it ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ stars. You’re doing a phenomenal job. P.S. No, they didn’t comp me the meal or pay me to post this review. Go see...
Read more11/5/15 - The inn went from bad to worse under the new management. Granted, the place has been tired for some time so a change in staff and management was long over due. New staff is much more friendly and accommodating...but the rest of the experience leaves a lot to be desired. Been there now 5 times since it changed hands. Each experience was very disappointing. Prices have gone up quite a bit and the menu is horrible. 9 bucks for a draft beer 12 bucks for a glass of house wine and 15 for a mixed drink. Draft beer is a few ounces short of a full pint as well. The menu is very eclectic and out of place for the area the resteraunt is situated in. Rabbit, duck, quail round out the menu. Portions got smaller and the prices went up. 14 bucks for 4 chicken wings. Ouch! Although the menu has rotated a few seasonal items through, It's been difficult finding something to eat on the menu each time we've gone and seems as though I've settled on something at least 4 out of the 5 times I've been there. Food quality is also poor. Several times food was cold when served. Chicken undercooked on 2 visits. Silverware was very dirty during our last visit and was questionable weather or not the fork I got was even washed.
Hopefully they shake out the bugs and cater their menu and prices to the clientele that live in the area...it would be a shame to see yet another failed resteraunt littering...
Read moreHaving recently moved to Glen Gardner and literally right down the road from GGI, my husband and I couldn't wait to try out the place. First impressions were great, dim yet comfortable mood lighting welcome you in, the old stone surrounding you almost seems it's whispering old secrets, different china plates on each table give it that Auntie Mae's sunday dinner feeling, a large display of beautiful German crystal sparkles and winks at you as you wait for your waitress which is not long of a wait and of course the beautiful wooden bar waiting for your presence. Our first eating experince at GGI was in celebration of our first wedding anniversary going all out ordering salads, appetizers drinks, entrees and dessert (food heals all wounds!) delictable is the word that comes to mind, every morsal savorier than the last. The presentation as well as the amount of food expertly calculated. To say the least we were entranced, smitten, lured and well we loved the place, we love it so much we go as often as time and money permits. Yes it is a bit pricey but the atmosphere the food and the attention are all worth it. So you ask why 4 stars instead of 5, well every diamond has its flaw.... and at GGI that would be the incredibly microscopic, back breaking, bum numbing chairs! Perhaps a ploy to get the customers moving quicker if...
