High On The Hog — Restaurant in Glen

My boyfriend and I stumbled upon this place and were welcomed with sweet smiles and warm hospitality. We order our food, which was politely delivered, and we started eating. MIND BLOWN!!! This food was AMAZING!!! My 6'4/260 lb man can put down some food and I have NEVER witnessed his eyes roll back in his head and not have words to describe the food. The potato salad, you better start slapping your momma, because that S* was good. We went back and order a 2nd round of food and were ready to eat the plates.

I do want to apologize for leaving my drink on the table before we left. I set it down to use the restroom and totally forgot it, so I apologize for leaving that for you to dispose of.

He and I agree a trip to your area is worth it just for the food. Goodness, we may have to call in our order in advance, because I am bringing coolers. (Notice I said coolers and not cooler. Plural.)

My fried bologna wasn’t fried, just warm. The white beans which I was told that they call northern beans, up north was the only thing on my plate above average…btw, I’m from up north and I’ve never heard of northern beans. They were the same as we use in our ham and beans which I tried to explain and the crew wasn’t impressed.

The red cole claw was…maybe it’s just me, but although I was told it was vinegar based, I wasnt told it would be just plain nasty.

The hot sauce was spicy but had an awful taste and a good sauce is expected to have both.

I’ve had barbecue in every part of the country as well as Europe and I’m not accustomed to having bad experiences at bbq joints. I ate the beans and threw out the rest including the ribs, though I saved the pulled pork….hoping to run into some bbq packets at a gas station for a better...

I ate here on my way to the casino and I have to say this was a great find I stopped for a break after driving 3 hours and I went in to see what all they had and I ordered 2 sandwiches and 2 drinks. I just about to leave when I decided to just eat outside. So when I opened my sandwiches and begin to eat. I have to say that it was very decided my girlfriend also loved hers as well and she sent me back inside to tell the young man behind the counter about our experience when the owner came out of the back and I told him the same. I'm so glad I chose to eat here and I would recommend this place if you happen to be going that way grab yourself something...
