I'll start by saying I read the reviews before I went and was hesitant to eat here. But as I always do, as we all should, I kept an open mind and intended to be a pleasant customer. I ordered to-go over the phone and was told it would be 30 minutes and it was. It is on the more expensive side, but great food usually is. I haven't been to Glennville much, but I don't live far away. We were in town for an appointment and I was pleasantly surprised to find a restaurant of this caliber considering this college town doesn't even have a good place to get coffee. I entered to pick up my order and was pleasantly greeted by the owner, I later gathered after speaking with him. Learning he was from New York/Florida I understood a lot more. He is nothing shy of what I would expect if I would walk into his reseraunt if it was in the heart of New York. He had that New York grit, in a good way, passion for his resteraunt, its food and strong spirit. I forgot I was in West Virginia until I walked back outside. He shared his struggles and frustrations, which I completely understood. We bid each other a pleasant farewell, and I drove the hour to get home. I hadn't tried the food yet. Once home, I tried the pizza and wings, and they were amazing. I can't imagine how they would have been if I had eaten fresh in the restaurant. There is no better pizza in the state. I highly recommend this New York gem located in this small town in West Virginia. If we take the time to communicate, that usually means listen more and talk less, have appreciation for all cultures, we can have amazing interactions and meet amazing people that have struggles like all of us. I am sad to see that this owner hasn't seen what most West Virginins are like, welcoming, understanding, and appreciative, and we know, no strangers. I am a Christian pastor, so you might imagine I would get easily offended. That was not my experience at Mamma's. I hope you visit Mamma's with an open mind, an empty stomach, and an expectation to have a great experience like I did. If I could I would talk him into moving to our small town. I can't...
Read moreI recently dined at Mamma's Brick Oven Pie and Pasta, and I must say, the experience was nothing short of incredible. Let's start with the pizza - it was absolutely outstanding! The crust was perfectly crispy, and the toppings were fresh and flavorful. I couldn't get enough of it. The crust, for starters, is a work of art. It’s thin and crisp, with just the right amount of chewiness. You can taste the expertise that goes into crafting this crust. It’s not too thick to overwhelm the toppings, nor too thin to become soggy – it strikes that perfect balance. The sauce is another highlight. It’s a harmonious blend of tomatoes and herbs, not too sweet or too tangy, but just right. It complements the crust and toppings perfectly, tying everything together in a burst of flavor. In summary, the pizza at Mama’s Brick Oven Pie and Pasta is a delightful symphony of flavors and textures. The crust, toppings, sauce, and cheese come together to create a pizza that’s simply unforgettable. It’s a must-try for any pizza aficionado.
Next, the garlic rolls! They were warm, garlicky, and went perfect with the olive oil and Parmesan. I could have made a meal out of those alone.
Now, onto their vodka pasta - a true masterpiece. The creamy sauce was rich and indulgent, and the pasta cooked to perfection. It's a must-try for any pasta lover.
But what truly impressed me was the speed of service. From the moment I placed my order to the time the food arrived at my table, it felt like no time had passed at all. Their efficiency is remarkable, especially for someone looking for a quick and delicious meal.
In conclusion, Mama's Brick Oven Pie and Pasta is a gem. The pizza, garlic rolls, vodka pasta, and lightning-fast service make it a dining experience that I will definitely be coming back for. Highly...
Read moreA little piece of Italy is nestled behind an East Main Street sign that beckons me, “Mama’s Brick Oven Pies & Pastas.” I figured it was worth a shot. I was greeted in the warmest way and felt like I’d made a great choice before I even had a menu in my hand. Fresh pizza by the slice was on display and was ever so tempting, but I’m a sucker for pasta. The owner escorted me to a table and handed me a menu. The options for a lunch special pasta dish were so plentiful, I needed some help deciding. I started telling my new Italian friend all the things that I liked, and he said, “Try the eggplant parmigiana!”
That turned out to be an epic recommendation! My lunch started with a fresh salad and some rolls that were topped with melted butter and fresh crushed garlic. When my entree was presented, I knew that I hadn’t been steered wrong. A crispy, thick sliced piece of eggplant was peaking out from under a thick, spicy sauce. Melted cheese with a sprinkle of fresh parsley greeted me, “Hellooooo Sailor.” I should’ve taken a picture, but I was beguiled. One bite and there was never a thought about stopping to take a picture. What can I say but COME SEE...
