When you are in Rhode Island and searching for authentic home style cooking, have I found a place for you!
Beyond a shadow of a doubt it's worth the drive to eat there. There are just three things that must satisfy me when I go out for dinner anywhere. I must have quantity. I must have quality. I must have tasty food. And that's what you get at this best keepted Secret , a Country Kitchen where the food is like Grandma used to make. And she still does it today. It is not unlikely to come in and see Grandma "Pam" working the kitchen. Her portions are huge and the prices are small and the quality of the taste is to die for! They even have what I could consider one of the best seafood platters in the whole state. I'll take it over Iggy's any day. It's less than $20 and it's two of Iggy servings in one. No lie! When I have the super duper fisherman platter I'll eat half of it and take the other half home and it feels a full-size to go foam cart. It's really enough for two people. There's very few restaurants that I like, and I've been too many restaurants in Rhode Island. And in order to fulfill all three of my requirements, I often find that I only one ro two out of the three checked off. However when I go to gentleman Farmer's Restaurant, I know I'm going to get good food, and I'm going to get a good amount of it, and it's not going to break my piggy bank! I give Gentleman Farmer's restaurant a five star rating? I would have given Gentleman a "10" if they have them. So if you're not into the real fancy hundred-dollar plate for an ounce of food type dinner, and then you deserve to treat yourself at Gentleman Farmer restaurant, right off of Route 44 in Chepachet Rhode Island. Yes that little bitty town in the middle of nowhere in the Northwestern Conner of Rhode Island. A little restaurant with real big test for real big appetites looking for good food... Please go and give them a visit at gentleman Farmer restaurant you won't be...
Read moreI enjoy supporting local diners but was not able to support this one. After confirming the restaurant was open until 2 on Columbus Day and placing an order at 12:20, my companions and I were told the chef was no longer making soup, fish and chips or dinner entrees. So we placed an order for items under the appetizer or lunch specials and were told told that the chef was no longer making one of the lunch specials. It was becoming clear he wasn't making anything hot and there was some question as to whether there were chopped salads. Unsure of what was being offered except sandwiches with no fries or salad substitutes, we left to get lunch elsewhere as it was still fairly...
Read moreGreat food, Slow service. Busy place with good parking and a steady flow of customers on a busy highway Our server was top notch but handling the entire place by herself including bussing the tables and running the register (12 Booths and 4 tables, plus 6 stools). It took almost 10 minutes for her to make it to greet us and get a menu. One cook and one cook's helper meant that orders take a while to come out. Another extra 10 minutes to wait to be given the bill. If you want to relax and you don't have a busy schedule, it will be a fine breakfast spot. Sit on the right side to avoid the loud television which is mounted...
