Magnolia 525 Tavern — Restaurant in Gloucester

One of the worst experiences beginning to end. When we arrived there was a 30 min wait so we asked if we could leave a number to get a call when a table was ready. The man (I assume the owner) at the hostess station asked the woman in my party for her number. She indicated to take mine and he responded "but I want yours". This was very uncomfortable. Even after this I left him my number and we received a text approx. 30 min later that the table was ready. We were seated and ordered then I think forgotten about. About 65 minutes later we requested the food be wrapped because we needed to leave. At this time the place was only about 25% full. It then took another 20 minutes to receive our food. It was so obviously long that a diner seated next to us offered us her leftovers. Once we received the food and paid the bill in full we left without as much as an apology. I live local and have had good meals in the past but this experience will be shared with everyone I know and will keep me from ever eating...

Not overly crowded for a Saturday night but service was not good. We waited over 15 minutes just for someone to come take our drink order. My wife ordered a coke (flat and all syrup it went back) 2 waters and a beer. That took another 8 minutes to get. She then would take another 8 minutes to come back and take our order. We already knew what we wanted in the time it took for her to get our drink order. Food took a long time to come out. It was frustrating seeing other parties who got there after us get their food before us. Food was sub par at best. My wife’s order was wrong and they forgot fries on my fathers order. Waitress just seemed distracted. I’m from Gloucester back home visiting my family and I always try local places. This was a disappointment. I took a seat at the bar. Seated to my right there was a couple dining, and to my left, there were 3 empty stools. I was given a menu and had to ask for a beverage list. Several moments later a couple was occupying the stools to my left. I was finished looking at the menu when I noticed the couple to my left were being asked what they wanted to order. WOW, REALLY!?! I looked around, I looked at the television screen thinking I must have not followed some "protocol." That's when the server returned and asked the couple to my right if they wanted anything else. Typically, I use those moments as teachable moments, but I have too many in recent years, and quite honestly, it's not my job. My parents taught me manners and I am well educated.
