Itâs easy enough to review the places you encounter on your day-to-day journey. Itâs entirely another story to review a place that you stumble upon. The Briar Patch is that kind of gem. It all started with my husbandâs miscalendar of his haircut appointment. It left us scrambling for another place on a Friday at 5 PM. He was happily ensconced in a chair at the Noble Barber as I meandered next door to the briar patch. My sole goal was to find a single cocktail to pass the humid afternoon of the south. What I found was the âsparkling flightâ of champagne-based cocktails. It, of course, included the ever-faithful French 75. Trust me; this is your go-to selection. The husband had his Crown and Water and was pleased with the cocktail's strength. The mixologists know what they are doing here. Unfortunately, the food was a mixed bag. Now this is a tapas restaurant so of course, I already love the portions. We started with a small size cheese and meat charcuterie board. Honestly, it was OK. We followed this up with the barbecue charcuterie board. Please take my advice, and avoid this one altogether. The brisket was scant and covered by way too much sauce, which wasnât that great of a sauce. And to top things off, they added a side portion of said sauce. Now I will tell you that the hidden gem of the barbecue charcuterie board is the potato salad. It is a potato salad commonly available in other restaurants, but they add a delicious topping of dill, which makes you forget your promise to forgo eating potatoes altogether. The next step was the salmon flatbread. The secret ingredient of this is the whipped feta. If you donât know what feta is, Google it. It will change your life. Whether you think you like salmon and feta or not, give it a try. I made a mistake by topping my meal off with a peach Bellini. Very few places make a great peach Bellini, and unfortunately, this is not one of them. I guess this reinforces the adage, âStop while youâre ahead.â All of that said, the atmosphere was amazing. It is such a quaint little place. You do, of course, have to make transportation arrangements if you plan to enjoy too many sparkling flights or any of the other great cocktails, but itâs worth it. I highly recommend the Briar Patch. Our waitress was Chloe, and we had an extra special atmosphere with Big Mike. Great...
Read moreMade reservations for 8pm for my wife's birthday and we just moved to the area so we wanted to try a tapas place (not a chain). We had out of state friends meet us there which is like 25 minutes outside of the city. We got there and the server informed us that she could only get use non hot food because the kitchen was closed. My only question is why take a reservation? The server we talked to was great but management never came over to smooth things out or anything just left the poor server to correct or not correct their mishaps, so we left dumbfounded. Really messed up my wife's birthday gathering. By the way I work in hospitality so I know this is not the CORRECT WAY OF RUNNING A RESTAURANT OR ANY BUSINESS! PLEASE MANAGEMENT GET...
