A friends trip home was postponed due to Dallas Airport being closed. So 5 of us got together and went to The Timbers. I had been there once when it was still open yrs ago. The service was amazing, and the atmosphere was great. It's big enough to be busy, yet not have you on top of one another. The food choices... omg, seriously, you could go there for days and not have to have the same thing twice. We got appetizers, the pretzel, the zucchini, and artichoke something. We all shared, and there was plenty. One was just as good as the other. For dinner, we had t bone steak, some fish(I don't recall what type they ordered), a beef dip, and I think our vegetarian friend got some type of veggie burger. Every one of us enjoyed our meal. One person with us is picky about his food and doesn't like things that most people I know do. So the fact he loved his was beyond amazing. His was the fish. The zucchini was so good that we've actually ordered some to go a couple of times since the day of the dinner. It was just as good as the night we had it with dinner. We all commented on how it was one of the best meals all the way around several times. I know I've recommended The Timbers to a bunch of people. Lastly, the prices are good. I paid $19 for the beef dip, which came with a mountain of amazing fries. Fries was what I chose. You have a few items to choose from. I feel that was a good price. I pay the same amount at a bbq place in town. I walked away from dinner and thought this place was perfect. It's just a down-home feeling type of place. It's as if it's your family's place. If say if you wanted to know on a scale of 1 through 10. I'd...

My friends and I went to the Timbers for a high school reunion. It had been years since I had been there last. The restaurant has been through many changes over the years... "After years of turnover, new names, new owners & even being used as a place of worship for a Lutheran congregation The Timber’s name was resurrected some 40 years ago as a popular Goleta eatery. Closing once again in 2003. In 2021 Kim and Gino Stabile, 5th generation Santa Barbarians with over 50 years combined hospitality experience, reopened this historic restaurant and local Landmark as Timbers Roadhouse, continuing the original dream that was started over 60 years ago." If you go to their website on Google, you can read the history of this site for yourself. It's a good place for comfortable dining. The food is good, the atmosphere inviting, and the staff will make your visit worthwhile. It's out in the far reaches of Goleta, CA off the Winchester Exit. There is plenty of free parking. We didn't get a chance to dig into the menu as we were there for an event and the menu had been predetermined. One of these days, I will return to enjoy their new menu. This place is an excellent location to have your event, big or small. Granted, it's a bit 'out-of-the-way' and 'off-the-beaten-path' however, the Timbers Restaurant is worth the trip....

Timbers likely carries a lot of nostalgia for long time Goleta / UCSB community members. But the food and service were "just ok".

Each dish was fine, but left me thinking: "at this price, I can get this same dish prepared better somewhere else in town."

I kept looking for something so tasty and wonderful that it would be the reason to come back. But I didn't find it on our plates, or see it on anyone else's.

The service was also "just ok" or maybe a little less than ok.

My husband and I typically get one appetizer and one main dish and then share, because otherwise the portions are just too big, particularly if we want to save room for dessert.

Normally this isn't a problem; but our server seemed to give us some serious attitude about it. She scrunched up her face and said: "I don't think that's going to be enough food for you."

I smiled and said: "thanks, but I think we'll be fine.'

Reader: it was plenty of food. 12 oz of tri tip is plenty for two people, especially two folks that are trying not to gain weight.

But from that point on, every time our server spoke to us, it seemed as if she was barely concealing her disappoinment in us as customers and as human beings.

It actually started to get funny because it...

First impression: We sat inside on a hot day. Instead of air conditioning they had the doors and windows open which didn't help much. A few brave souls sat out back in a shaded section of their large outdoor area. I'm not sure how they survived. Second impression: Decent decor. Friendly staff. First impression of the menu: Ridiculously expensive. Second impression of the menu: Happy hour prices are reasonable. Food impressions: The happy hour nachos were messy but tasty, smothered in tasty chili and cheese. The chips didn't hold up though, and everything ended up pretty soggy. My sliders were pretty good, no complaints at all. Friends were satisfied with their chicken tacos, but the tomato bisque was received a "Meh" for being bland. Onion rings were well seasoned and tasty, and the giant pretzel was well received. Overall, it was okay. We mostly stuck to the happy hour menu and it wasn't bad. Nothing convinced us that their food was so incredible that we should come back and pay their regular prices. My companions thought I was being too generous with my three stars, but since I'm doing the reviewing I get to choose the stars.

Happy to see this historic building up and running again. Food and service is great. Interior is comfortable, not too cold like most restaurants, spacious and well ventilated. Large group? Still spacious. Outside firepits, games, swings... Lots of options for entertainment during happy hour or lunch office team bonding events or holiday parties. The filet minon was tender, juicy, and the rub tastes amazing, but needs to come way down on the salt (🤔 Perhaps they forgot to rinse it before adding the rub, but hey, it's a new place, so it will take a bit to get everything perfectly right. I'll still try it again next time.). Bread and butter, extra water on the table for easy refills, good appetizers, clean restrooms, wine by the glass... Really going to struggle to find much wrong with this place. Give them a try. Bring your pops and the kids.

Quieter restaurant with cozy atmosphere & great service. The building is constructed from repurposed beams from an oil Derrick. It has a lot of history & character. I would call this restaurant an old school regional classic. The menu offers a wide selection of surf, turf & vegetarian. Service is very prompt and professional. After visiting several area restaurants with loud drunk people and/or loud children, the more sedate atmosphere of the Timbers was a welcome reprieve. Rice pilaf has curry, which is good to know if you are like me and do not enjoy curry. Halibut was a bit dry. Vegetable lasagna is huge. I barely made a dent in mine. There are no noodles in this lasagna, which is layered with eggplant slices. The food was pretty good, but did not match the atmosphere or the prices.
