Waffle House — Restaurant in Good Hope

Friendly staff. The sign on the door said carry out only. There were 8 others inside eating, I was turned away. Wich way is it? Carry out only or dine in? The staff was friendly enough and when I ask him about another location where I could eat they recommended 310 exit. Just seems like a weird experience since it's never happened at waffle House like this before. This dude sitting at the bar came in after I left and appears to be eating a waffle at the bar. Now I'm not happy. 15 cars in the parking lot. I'm adding this note 20 hours later. At the WH at the 310 exit, I did see a sign that said something to the effect that due to staffing we may close sections or just serve carry out... Blah blah. There were two employees working here and I got in during some kind of rush of folks. These two ladies did an excellent job and thank goodness they had customers that did not get irrational and argumentative. Let's be sure to tip these people when we find them working hard working through a tough time their tips mean a lot to them and it's a good way to make sure we keep the staff strong and help keep the now hiring signs...

We were greeted by the grill cook (name tag said River) with "welcome to Walmart". When we ask what do you mean the entire staff burst out laughing and we ask if we should go somewhere else to which the grill cook replied "we were told we have to greet you when you come in, so you're greeted" This seemed to amuse the staff based upon their laughter. Since we were in at 12:45 a.m. we chose to stay and order instead of leaving for the next place we could find open; otherwise; we would would have left. We expressed our discontent to the server who did make apologies for the others. She then went and spoke with the grill cook who turned to the other staff and said aloud, "looks like Brokeback Mountain down there". I am retired after 30 years as a traveling sales rep and have eaten many meals at Waffle House. Never in all that time have I been so insulted or experienced such immature behavior at one of their restaurants. Do yourself a favor and bypass the Goodhope location of this chain or better still avoid Waffle House all together if possible. Many restaurants offer better fare for the same...

I had a friend that ate there frequently and said it was a decent restaurant to eat at I was gonna check it out until. He called me saying The manager over heard a conversation that was being carried on between him and another person and took it the wrong way. A personal conversation isn’t anyone’s business but the people involved. So how can you tell someone to shut there mouth while having a conversation that don’t involve you. Then he tells me he is now band and can’t go back there. This is unacceptable work practices. He called me affair cause now the employees are belittling him for no reason asking what’s his address or where he make his finance. It’s no one’s business I’m a black man in America I thought those days were over even for a white man. People should learn to get alone regardless of color or religion if not our road ahead will just get harder. I know that these reviews don’t get read but let hope someone see it and...
