Great addition to Gordonsville! We placed a to go order of 3 chicken boats and 1 flounder (plus a biscuit for each). The biscuits were just okay, but nothing I couldn't have popped in the oven myself and saved $3.00. The boats were filling and came with 2 pieces of chicken or 3 flounder pieces (think the size of tenders). The flounder was okay, but the chicken was very good. It was well seasoned and perfectly cooked. The wedges were well seasoned too and held up even after the ride home. We were pleasantly surprised that they were not soggy. I got to sample several sauces---Asian sweet, tarter, honey beer mustard and the hot honey. The hot honey was my personal favorite and 3 out of 4 of our group agreed. Slaw and pickles also came with the boat, both in side sauce type containers. The pickles were outstanding, the slaw didn't really have any impact on the meal. The order was accurate and ready on time. Pickup was easy. If picking up and not heading home, be sure to ask for napkins and utensils as none were included. They have a variety of beer to go for sale too. Overall, a good experience and we will definitely return.

My coworker recommended this place and swore that the chicken was amazing. I’m not sure if it was the timing or if I’m a food snob but the overall the food was decent. Crown Fried Chicken in urban neighborhoods taste better than this (not to include the price point). The price was a bit more than I expected but the presentation was spot on. The packaging was unique and boutique-ish. The venue was large , indoors was bright and clean. Tons of parking in the rear. I asked for hot honey with my chicken but didn’t taste it or get any on the side. I was en route to a 2 hour destination so I had to enjoy my meal in the car. The deviled eggs with bacon were tasty and the chicken was not as piping hot as I wanted it to be. I feel that this place is geared towards the local crowd of regulars. Based on the breading of the chicken, it felt like that it was reheated as opposed to freshly made. I could be totally wrong though. Anywho….the coleslaw was good. Would I return? Probably not but if you’re an out of towner and looking for a quick meal that’s decent, get it to go.

We made a drive down to the restaurant on the recommendation of a relative and it was a great experience. While busy, it wasn't crowded and we were able to get a table right away. We stuck with chicken options. I had the 4-piece boat (4 pieces of chicken, potato wedges, and I went with the Nashville hot sauce) and my wife had the chicken sandwich with potato wedges. The chicken is cooked just right. Well seasoned, juicy, crispy, not oily. The wedges are thick pieces of potato... Like a cross between what you'd expect as wedges and deep-fried baked potato pieces. Hot sauce was spicy, but not overly so. Staff is friendly and attentive. I'd say the one downside was having gone back multiple times since, it seems the "boat" options are gone, so now you need to order the platter. While the food is good, it's more sides and extras than I'd like.

I literally never leave reviews unless the food is that bad or it’s that good. This is Honestly the worst chicken I ever had. They were kinda busy so I figured must be good food. The Family 8 piece is what we got and they delivered it to us with no silver ware, plates, or napkins. I went and found my own eating utensils and napkins and we ate off the massive platters they brought, by the time we got plates we already decided not to eat anymore of the food we barely touched. Chicken was over fried, and the seasons they use were not conventional. Maybe it was ancient fryer oil but the smell coming off the chicken was unbearable I have a stomach ache riding home writing this review. Biscuit was ok nothing special. Green beans seemed bland and somehow oily. Maybe butter or margarine on them but other than that weird slippery shine no flavor. The rolls tasted like a glove with old fryer oil grabbed them, the southern slaw was pretty decent, I was worried it would be bad after everything else but it wasn’t bad, not the best but edible for sure. And lastly the redeeming part of that platter was the side salad came with very fresh looking greens, and was a pretty large salad for a side salad. Salad probably best thing on the table and it was just some cucumbers, baby tomato’s and lettuce. Server was cool and comped us half the meal since we didn’t touch most of it. We went here with gift cards we got for Xmas. Drove an hour to get there to be pretty disappointed. 10/10 go somewhere else unless you want food like mama used to make and your mama was...

The orginal review is months old. I had increased to 2 stars this past week. But after the owners response i lowered by to a 1 star. What a smoe. I have eaten here on several occasions and the food was good however on my way back from Richmond on a weekday. I ordered 5 chicken sandwiches and asked for TOL and beer ranch and garlic dressings for all 5 to go. What I received were 5 burnt (they were black) dried out chicken sandwiches. 1 slice of tomato, 1 small lettuce leaf and 1 small slice of onion. And 2 beer ranch and 1 garlic sauces. I laughed my butt off of how screwed up this. I can't believe they would serve this. I live too far away to go back.

I ended up throwing my sandwich away less than halfway thru since no amount of hidden valley ranch would fix this over cooked dried out monstrosity. Even the buns were burnt as were the potatoe wedges. Which is a crime.

I should have noticed something was wrong when this place is usually packed. There was one customer in the place. I'm just wondering if the regular cook was sick and they found someone off the street that googled how to deep fry. Or maybe it's how it is on a week day and the regular customers know that and avoid it like the plaque.

What is really upsetting is I gave a 20% tip. Which is way too much for the lack of competent service I received.

Lesson learned don't order take out over the phone here. Sit down and order. That way if you get what I got you can pay for your drinks...

Ordering takeout from here was a mistake. I tried to use their online ordering option, but it did not provide the full options the normal menu does. I called to place an order two hours ahead of pickup time. I was told that I could not place an order ahead and would need to call back during the rush to do it. I called at the time she suggested. They couldn’t hear me over their music, so I gave up and tried again with the online order. Again, it couldn’t take my online order for normal menu items. I called once more and finally was able to place an order. When I arrived 30 minutes later, I was told that “right after we took your order, we ran out of hamburgers, so we need you to choose something else.” Seriously?! They had taken my name and phone number when I placed an order yet did not contact me to choose another menu item until I arrived. Total lack of customer service. Won’t be coming again.

Update: After waiting another 15 minutes for a new entree to be prepared, we took the food home and discovered that half of it was missing. What was there was overcooked and missing the requested condiments. They refunded my card. I hope they can get their act together because it could be a very nice spot under different...
