We have gone to the ocean garden for many years. We have taken many large groups of family members and friends always had great service and excellent food, until yesterday. I called and made reservations a few days ago. We were coming from my husbands memorial service and I had said between 3:30 and 4:00. She said if you are running late just let us know. We called a few minutes to four and said we would all be there by 4:30. She said fine. We were there at 4:25. Seated in the dining room no one else was there. We had 2 waitresses ordered our drinks. That was the first series of mistakes. Ordered appetizers which ended up coming with a few of the meals. About 3 meals came out at a time most were wrong. We got to the point that we just took them. Meanwhile other people came in and got their food quickly. My son watched a waitress put mine on a cart and go back to the kitchen. When she finally came back he asked if that was ours. Oh she forgot. It was mine and cold. My son in law finally got his at 5:45. Of course everyone else was done. When the checks came the waitresses said a 20% tip was added because we were a large group. My daughters and I have all worked in food service and we all agreed any restaurant would have taken the tip to 10% from all the mistakes. I called the manager today and explained what happened first he apologized then he seemed angry and said he will never allow a large group in again. So I guess it was our fault for trying to help a Gorham business. I quest we were suppose to all order the same thing so the waitresses wouldn’t screw up our plates even though it looked like they were writing it all down. He doesn’t need to worry though we definitely will never eat...

The worst customer service I've ever encountered!! I only visit Maine once a year in which my grandmother and I make sure we have a lobster roll when I visit. Its tradition. Arrived 12/31/16 around 3:10p.m. but was not greeted until 3:23 p.m. explaining that I needed two lobster rolls to go. I was told I could only order from a specific New Year menu that started at 3 p.m. looking at the special menu there were several lobster specials - so I asked politely if she could ask her kitchen manager if they could make a exception due to the time. She stated "We're only serving what's on the 3pm menu". I repeated my favor of asking the the kitchen manager and without hesitant her reply was "I'll ask but I don't know he'll probably say no but I'll ask". Floored by her hesitance and her unwillingness to accommodate a customer with a simple question, I politely stated to no longer worry asking a simple question that I would go somewhere else. Please understand I am not upset over the restaurant not being able to serve lobster rolls after 3p.m.(but then again that was never actually answered)but upset over a incontinent waitress too busy to have a customers question answered. In order to survive in this business financially your front of the house staff needs to be accommodating even to the smallest needs due to representing the face of the restaurant. Please evaluate that...

This place was the most underwhelming experience that we had in Maine on our fishing trip. We had a party of three and ordered three appetizers (1 crab rangoons, and 2 chicken tenders) along with a lobster roll dinner for each of us. It was approximately $150 worth of food.

The food itself was the first issue, the lobster rolls were just bad. I am not a super high level food reviewer or anything, but I am 99% sure the lobster used was frozen, which came as a shock being in Maine because I can get live lobster in central New York where I live.

The next problem came when my son asked for his second refill on his Mountain Dew. I was absolutely shocked when the waitress told me that my sons fountain soda refill request would be an additional $2. Maybe I am the bad guy here, it was probably listed on the menu and I just didn't notice it or something. I may have taken for granted that fountain refills are just part of the experience.

The only thing that saved this place from a one star review was the waitress providing great service. That being said, the quality of the lobster rolls that were provided was too poor, and the charge for fountain refills will keep me from coming back next time I am through the area for another...

This was the worse seafood I ever had. First and last time going. Prices are outrageous not what I expected at all we ordered the chowder it was called no flavor whatsoever we doused salt and pepper on it and still didn’t make it better for $12 I am so upset I brought a gentleman out to eat seafood in Maine I was never so embarrassed the baked potato was reheated and so dry we couldn’t he couldn’t even eat it we got no dinner rolls with our dinners that cost over $20 it was just awful Also I expected nice shrimp nice scallops scallops for the size of under a nickel and the shrimp look like popcorn shrimp very disappointed

Casual with a comfortable vibe. Seafood, steaks and burgers. Lobster pie was great, fresh fried whole clams would have been fabulous but were a little gritty - just not quite cleaned thoroughly. Onion rings were really good. Prices were just a little above moderate, but the overall quality helped justify them. Will go back.
