My daughter and I came here to try the food to see if she wanted them to cater her wedding at a near by ranch. We loved the food and the owner came out and spoke to us. He himself suggested a baked potato bar with two meats and two sides and all the fixens. He said he’d catered weddings at this venue before and it would be no problem. He even said he could put the banana pudding in small jars for us. We were thrilled. Fast forward to the wedding and he arrived at the venue the day of the wedding and was setting everything up in the prep kitchen and acted shocked that we wanted it set up in the main barn room where the buffet farm tables were. A wedding guest had to help him move everything to the farm tables in the main room. He had a steamer for the food but the food was stone cold! The tray the brisket was in fell into the steamer water and got soaked and ruined the meat. “All the fixes” for the potato consisted of multiple giant bottles of liquid parkay fake butter, giant squeeze bottles of sour cream, white shredded cheese, onions, and pickled jalapeños. The meats were cold and there was no BBque sauce that we specified we wanted. The tossed salad was good but the salad dressing was in huge Costco sized bottles. Did I mention EVERYTHING was COLD!!!!!! I have never been more embarrassed in my life. The wedding guests were asking if there was a microwave they could heat their food in. I emailed the owner before writing this review to see if he could make things right and refund at least half of the $1164 paid for food for 40 guests but he has yet to reply. We have also told the venue NOT to recommend this place anymore!!!! It’s a shame really because our lunch at the restaurant was delicious. He should...
Read moreCame here for the first time with my family and parents to celebrate Fathers Day and was highly disappointed in the overall experience. They greeted us and informed us that they were only accepting card as payment. They were out of many items including ribs. My husband ordered burnt end fries with all the toppings. When they were delivered to the table there was only 5-6 small pieces of meat scattered across the top, the cheese sauce was watery, and the fries weren’t even a brown color and all the other toppings were missing. For $19 I let them know this wasn’t acceptable especially since their own website depicts a photo with 3X the meat he was originally given. The waitress had them taken back where they added meat and jalapeño but the quality was no where near having to pay $19.
Almost everyone’s dish was missing some component and had to be asked for several times. When it came time to pay we weren’t given a ticket to look over with a total, the waitress input everything in to a tablet table side turned it around in my face and told me to choose my tip amount which ranged between 10%-25% and then sign it before even taking my card. I asked for a receipt to review to make sure to review before I paid and it wasn’t an option. They took my card and then gave me an itemized receipt after the transaction was complete.
I ended up apologizing to my dad and husband for such a subpar Fathers Day lunch that ended up costing me $110 when I could have just taken them to a Dickey’s BBQ drive through and would have at least been a better dollar value vs taste and experience.
For a small town it’s extremely expensive for the food to be...
Read moreGreat food, but online presentation needs work
I've visited Hatchet House a couple of times now, and each time the food has been consistently delicious. The flavors are great, and the overall vibe is fun and welcoming. However, I do have one major suggestion that could really improve the customer experience--especially for those of us who follow them online.
Their Facebook posts often feature mouthwatering photos of menu items, but unfortunately, they rarely include descriptions. Without knowing what the dish is, it's hard to come in and confidently order something you saw online. I've wanted to try several items I've seen in their posts, but without labels or names, it's a guessing game.
I understand that running a business is demanding, but adding simple captions or item names to their photos could go a long way. It would make it easier for customers to engage with their offerings and might even bring in more business from people who are browsing online.
Also, their online menu is pretty barebones--it's just a link to a third-party ordering site, which doesn't give a full picture of what's available. A more detailed, regularly updated menu on their website or social media would be a huge improvement.
Overall, I love the food and the atmosphere, but I hope they consider enhancing their digital presence. It would make a great place...
