We really wanted to like this place. We are new to town and it's so close to home. The lady was super friendly and helpful. We kinda had slim pickings as she said they were busy that day and out of a few things. We got a taco plate and quesadilla. Both with chicken. Chicken was crazy salty. We love spices but this was straight salt. The beans were nice and hot were just ok. Rice was chewy and borderline crunchy. We had a sense of humor and said al dente. Taco was very messy a lot of juice coming out. Good portion size. Tried a small daiquiri it was alright. Could definitely taste like vodka in thr end. I felt like should we call them and tell them their chicken is salty. Maybe they don't know? I guess this won't be our local taco joint. Yes I ate the tacos and my beans. Wife ate quesadilla and barely touched her beans and ate one bite of rice. We aren't really send it back kinda people. Maybe if we ate there and didn't drive home we would have...
Read moreWe love, love, love the Tiki Shack! The owners are super nice and really want you to enjoy their drinks and food. The meat is smoked right out back with real wood. The meat goes into tasty tacos with fresh ingredients that are very flavorful. I like to get one pork and one beef; I know, I like to push the envelope. The drinks are very cold and very refreshing and you can get them TO GO! How awesome is that? I know I shouldn't do this, but I always have to remove the sticker when they hand it to me. I know this is a bad idea, but I can't help myself; remember, I'm pushing the envelope. I only ask for one thing: can you guys invent a drink that is as yummy as the ones you have, but don't come with a brain freeze? That would be...
Read moreUpdate 2/21 I gave the 'fajita' quesadillas a try. It was mainly greasy onions and very, very, very little meat. If I would have asked for no onion I don't know what it would have been filled with. Taco Bell makes a more legitimate quesadilla.
I would give this maybe 2.5 stars. The brisket tacos are mostly all fat and the fajita tacos are more onions than fajita. The fajita meat you do get is just not very good quality. The queso is basically microwaved fake cheese from a jar. That being said, the pork tacos are good. I woukd not order the brisket fat tacos again or the onion fajita tacos again though. Maybe I will try the chicken tacos if I return. Definitely not as good as the original owners...
