Decent price, fast service, good ice cream. Great burger at a good value

Too Tall’s Steak Burger - $9: Medium to high quality quarter pound beef patty. Very juicy. It is complimented with a great slice of american cheese. For what you pay, it is a fairly good value.

The sauces are the dominating element. It gets a bit messy, but I didn’t think it was too overwhelming. The lettuce is fresh, crisp, and shredded for great texture. I don’t think there were a ton of onions. The bun was toasted about perfect and yet soft and full.

Waffle cone with vanilla: Good quality ice cream with a good cone. The paper was GLUED on so watch out for that.

Banana Split (small): They actually have different sizes of Banana Splits. The one I had was one serving (heap?) of ice cream over the toppings and banana. The cherry fell over rather quickly and is no longer in view. The boat container was shallow and made cutting into the banana difficult, but workable since I ordered the small.

Carmel Sunday: The carmel was a bit gritty, but good overall.

Service: Quicker than expected and spot on. When I ordered the burger, they gave me a buzzer so I knew when it was ready.

Atmosphere: Sat outside on the picnic tables (no other option than standing). They are small. People spill ice cream and do not clean it up, but that is fairly normal. I am sure they come out occasionally and clean it, but be prepared.

I've been here in years past. They added a lot of premium items under the new ownership including burgers, BBQ, etc.

Just silly customer service fails made our trip unpleasant. We came in a convertible, with 3 dogs. Got 2 med. root beer floats with vanilla ice cream and a malt. Assumed they would all be in cups. No problem. Were given 3 small cups and 2 open glass bottles of root beer and 2 spoons. I could not figure out how to do it in car had already spilled all over myself and car so went back and asked her if there was anyway she could help me get these home. She said she had a drink holder and 2 more lids for the open rootbeer floats in paper cups. OOooookaay great. Wouldve been better at the beginning. Or better yet to give me a big enough container for my float. And straws even! Then I asked her "didnt I order vanilla ice cream and the medium size, these are small" I could see 4 tickets right in front of her and assumed she would just look or look to give fair customer service. (I did leave them 3.80 for a tip) She said they didnt have any hard vanilla ice cream now and that she couId print meout a copy of your reciept over there at the next window. I was balancing all the drinks and there were people in line at that window so I said, "thats not really the point, I dont need a copy" and gave up and left. Silly to be handed 2 root beer floats in overflowing small paper cups with no lids, just spoons and 2 big glass...

Their hot dogs are way better than those from a well-known Eastown Grand Rapids place (the one that sounds like a yesterday thing). Still not my #1 favorite, but it's just a matter of personal preference. People here seem to prefer soft, semi-sweet buns, and beef franks. I personally prefer a less soft bun, a hybrid between a baguette and a sub bun, without any sweetness. And franks made with pork meat. But that's just because I miss Chilean "completos". Their French fries are very good. Very savory. Again, I prefer them with just salt, but theirs are still very good. Anyway, they told me that Too Tall's place changed ownership a couple of years ago. I had tried their burgers a few years ago (delicious), and their banana splits (the best). We'll try them again soon, and then will see if those are as good as before. They probably are. Customer service follows the example of the previous owners: excellent. And now they have their own app, so you can order and pay in advance, and save some time! I wish Too Tall's had another location closer to Eastown. I'm sure they would be very successful there, too. Update Aug/2024: Their burgers are really, really good! My favorite: Olive Steakburger with double patty, no cheese, no onion, +bacon, +mayo. Next time I'll add a bit of Dijon...

Edit: went back after owner commented. Got a hot fudge Sunday with brownies and no cherry. Came out good, fudge was hot but not personally a fan of their brownie as the brownie was more akin to chocolate kibble instead of soft brownie. Waited to get home to use my own spoon as those red ones cut up my mouth. Overall much better than 1st time I went. I'll probably stop now and then and likely try the savory foods some time. Original review: Not the biggest fan. Ordered hot fudge turtle Sunday with no cherry. Cherry was there before I yeeted it to the street. The hot fudge was just regular chocolate that was cold and there was very little. And the spoon was very sharp on the edges and cut up my lip.

We used to go here on a pretty regular basis and it's always been fairly good and prices WERE decent, but when you pay $4.00+ for a small cone the size of the cone on the left, there's definitely a problem, considering you can get a half gallon for that price! šŸ˜† I get I ordered a small cone but this is smaller than what I used to get a kiddy cone for, at the same place with the original owners. I swear I took 2 bites and it was gone! Let's do better with portions and the prices are so much higher and you consistently wait in large lines.
