My first time stopping here I only wanted to pick up a cinnamon roll. I picked out simply the largest cinnamon roll I had ever seen. Should have recognized the red flag when the elderly gentleman (I assumed was one of the owners) recommended I cut slices off the roll and prepare it like it was French toast. Why on earth would I want to do that I thought to myself? What I love about eating a delicious cinnamon roll is working my way from the outside and making it to the moist chewy guts of the roll as a reward for my patience.
Problem was, this roll while decent in flavor was as dry with each and every bite from the outside all the way into the middle. Now I understood the recommendation to slice it up and prepare it like French toast. It was the only hope to breath some life into the gargantuan sized roll and add some moisture to it.
Who knows how long the roll I selected sat on that table waiting for a traveler to stop and be drawn in by the shear magnitude of this roll enough to purchase it. Days old? Possibly. Be sure to ask for freshly baked rolls regardless of th size if you want to make some sense out of the pricing this place imposes. I think I paid approximately $14 for my very large, VERY DRY, very average cinnamon roll. I recommend anyone who is heading north stow your hunger a little longer and visit the Creswell Bakery as a bakery who delivers with each and every bite or your going to feel frustration from your experience at Heaven on Earth.
I stopped a second time to have a late breakfast assuming I would give this restaurant located in rustic log cabin one more shot to win my loyalty. The two star rating I have given is strictly for their food pricing and portion size.
It’s not their quality that is lacking, my Trucker’s omelette was well prepared and properly seasoned.. The home fries also were good. But the reasons I will never ever again stop at Heaven on Earth apart from the super dry cinnamon roll referenced above is the price I paid for what looked like a two egg omelette with a smattering of home fries thrown on the plate I am sure is intended to keep the small omelette from feeling lonely on that big almost empty plate.
But if you like toast they give you plenty of that. Apple pear butter with rye bread is an interesting combination. I think I will stick to deli meats when choosing rye bread.
I had no clue what the final tally would be for my meal as I didn’t see the price for my two egg omelette listed. I was expecting at least $12 and had it been close to that I probably would have kept my displeasure regarding my experiences with this place to myself. My bill came and I was surprised they actually had the audacity to charge me $16.99 for my small 2 egg omelette with a smattering of home fries. Good thing I only ordered water (although I could taste the dish soap in every sip) and passed on what I am sure is an expensive cup of coffee.
The waitress was pleasant and why this place earned 2 stars, otherwise I would have probably stick it with a one star review. Nothing is impressive about this place and you really don’t even get what you end up paying for.
Like I mentioned previously, save your appetite and money for Creswell Bakery about a 100 miles up the road. That place has never disappointed me apart from they don’t accommodate...
Read moreI haven’t written a bad review in 10+ years. It was my birthday so I decided to try a new place for breakfast. I had been wanting to try Heaven on Earth for awhile, since I had seen so many good reviews. Loaded the family up in the car and drove 1 hour to the restaurant.
Make sure you ask to sit in the front room where it seems to have a much cleaner and overall nicer ambience. We weren’t given the option, we were taken to a back room which felt like an old church community center with stained/ripped rugs and corners used for storing equipment, etc.
The food was good. My country fried steak breakfast was $17.99 (no add-ons or anything). Seemed a little high, so I expected big portions. Portions turned out to be average size.
Coffee is $4. It’s my opinion that if you are going to charge this much for coffee, it should taste good, not be in an extra small mug, and the customer should never have to ask for a refill.
When ordering, my son asked for pancakes from the adult menu (there’s no kids menu). The waitress casually asks my 6 y/o son if he would like fruit on his pancakes, of course he answers yes. The waitress casually asks my wife and I if we’d like gravy on our breakfast potatoes. That sounded good, we said yes.
We get the bill. My 6 y/o son was charged $3 for adding fruit to his pancakes. My wife and I were charged extra $1.25 EACH for adding a small spoonful of gravy to our potatoes. This was extremely disappointing that the waitress failed to mention these extra charges when she asked us if we wanted these “extras”. The menu also failed to mention anything about these “extra charges”. I pay my bill at the register and hand the waiter my credit card. Waitress then hands me back the receipt to sign and it’s $2.50 more than what the bill was. I asked why, waitress said that’s the credit card fee.
After the “extra charges”, tip, and credit card fee…my breakfast bill for a family of 4 off of hwy 5 in Oregon was $90 (no, there was no ocean view, etc.)
If you are going to have scriptures on your wall and advertise spirituality, then you need to be more honest with your charges and business practices and don’t make ppl sit in the back storage room/church community center. I was initially excited to order to-go one of their famous giant cinnamon rolls, but by this point my birthday budget was exhausted. I’m sorry, but this place was not...
Read moreI passed by this place because there was not much around it. No Town, gas station or other shops just an old building I'm not the type of person to turn around on a trip but we did we were hungry and it was the best thing I ever did the food was excellent just like Mama's cooking if your mom knew how to cook and the people there were amazing and then I saw the baked goods and I was happy felt like a kid in the candy store this place is worth a trip no matter where you are. God bless. My wife and I took a trip to crescent City to grants pass on our way to Mount Shasta. We had stopped at this place before and told many people about it it is so amazing. It was a half hour north of where we were headed which was Mount Shasta it was so good the last time we decided to take the half hour trip out of our way just to go eat breakfast here again. I am so glad we did as we pulled up the owner Christine was outside she is an amazing and I mean an amazing lady. Short story our first time going up here we were heading to a special VA hospital that dealt with cancer patients and stem cell transplant because I have multiple myeloma. We stopped here on our way the first time I met Christine. She treated us like family she brought us a cinnabon which was supposed to be a small one but looked like it could feed four people as if we didn't finish it and worked on it for a couple days. The food then and now is fantastic everything here is homemade. This place has been here for 51 years It doesn't look like much from the outside this is why we passed by it the first time but then turned around to give it a chance so glad we did. But once you walk inside you are amazed at what you see all the home baked goods jellies cookies cinnabons apple crisps and other crisps cookies cakes. By the time we left there I think we spent an extra $50 on just baked goods jams and preserves. Totally worth it. As is Christine remembered us gave us both a big hug which just shows you how special this lady is. The wait staff there is fantastic they are all so kind and friendly. I know God is smiling down on this place because Christine is an angel I am so glad to have met her. I honestly believe when you go there which you definitely should You will feel the same way I do and my wife does. I can't...
