We had an unfortunate experience here. We came in for lunch at noontime on Friday, and the place was very busy, and it seemed understaffed. We were told to sit at the only available table, which had not yet been cleared. A staff member came and removed the dirty dishes and glasses, but didn't wipe the table, so it was still soiled with food and drink. We waited, and it never got cleaned. The next server came and seemed a bit frazzled, but gave us silverware and napkins. I remarked the table was still dirty, and she said she would send someone over. She took our drink order and our food order --we only wanted a light lunch and knew what we wanted and we had another appointment after lunch. Another person came by and dropped off our drinks. We took our napkins and wiped the table ourselves. The food came, and we had ordered the fiesta chips - an appetizer - which was supposed to include salsa, queso, and guacamole. The queso was fine, but there were two other "sauces" that were not salsa or guacamole. The red liquid, instead of salsa, was just like a pure hot sauce, and the same with the green sauce -- it was not guacamole at all. I had ordered a simple cheeseburger and fries platter. After waiting nearly 40 minutes, the burger had not arrived, and people who had come in after us had all been served. I called the one young woman server over to ask her why our chips platter had not included the salsa and guacamole -- and she said, "sorry, we're out of guacamole and salsa" -- I said, well, shouldn't the previous server let us know that BEFORE we ordered the appetizer-- she said nothing just apologized. Then I said to her as we had waited close to 45 minutes now and had not gotten the rest of our meal that we had to go as we had another appointment, to please just cancel the hamburger platter. She got, who I'm assuming is her manager, and this person got very nasty with me, demanding to know why. I told her it was too late and we needed to go and we had been in the restaurant for over an hour, as it was now 1:10 pm. She then insisted I should pay for it and take it to go. I said no, I was no longer wanting it, especially after the poor service and food. She said, "Good -- we don't want your business!" I nodded, and paid the bill for the terrible chips and our 2 drinks. I left a tip for the server, because she is just doing her job. But, yes, I'm sure they don't need my business, and I'm fine with that. I will go to another restaurant that will welcome my business and treat me well, like a customer should be treated. I always try to give local/small businesses my business, because I like to support the community, but this bad experience is no loss for me or my wallet. I only gave the restaurant 2 stars because the...
Read moreWhat a find! My husband and I were passing through and are so pleased that we stopped here. First the food. What can I say, delicious! I had menudo which was a little creamy and much thicker than I've had before and I loved it! The menudo was hearty and very filling. As a matter of fact, I would recommend ordering the 20 ounce serving, I couldn't even finish mine. My husband had the huevos ranchero with red sauce and he says "they were out of this world!" The coffee was on spot and they even have a special brewed percolated upon request.
The service was exceptional and yes, I mean exceptional. I've been all over the world and to all kinds of cafe's, 5 star restaurants, taco stands, just everything; I mean it when I say exceptional. They were all attentive, friendly, personal, and happy. It's nice to go to a place where the people are genuinely happy. It's family run and it shows, they even had what I would assume was a lovely grandchild aged about 8 going from table to table as new guests arrived greeting them and asking what they wanted to drink.
The ambiance is home grown. Know that you're not entering a roll out the carpet kind of place and just enjoy yourself. Families and couples enjoying the food, company, and experience. The bathrooms were very clean and well supplied, our table was clean, supplied, and inviting. It felt like I was having breakfast at my aunt's house. If I could come...
Read moreWe love Manuel and Rosie and want them to succeed but they're off to a slow start based on what we seen and experienced not sure if we'll go back for a few months to give them a chance to improve. First they have about 3 too many tables in the front of house because you shouldn't have to ask someone at the other table to get up so you can get out to go to the restroom, then they turned away 13 customers in 4 different groups starting at 6:10 and the door says open until 7, the table next to us was seated and forgot about for 20 minutes before they came to even get the drink order. We specifically ordered enchiladas with no meat, it came with meat, our grandson ordered burrito plate smothered receive just a burrito with some chili on it (inside was just ground beef) and was told they ran out of rice, in today's world with all the options you shouldn't run out of anything. No garnishes on plate and not even the option of onions with the enchiladas, however on a plus note the chili was hot in flavor.
I will say that the staff was very friendly, alittle confused on who's covering what tables but friendly. The decor is pretty and again we wish them only the best with all the luck...
