Food and service are excellent every time, like stepping back in time, there is a smoking section and if that's not your jam please don't go there and complain about it, part of the beauty of the 5 diner experience is watching people who come in several times a week to catch up on the local gossip over coffee and a smoke, get in a hearty meal and a good laugh. They recently cleaned it up with paint and some other work on the place and definitely brought up the feel of the place. Awesome food very friendly, courteous server and cook. They had to close early for a personal emergency of the cook but they still took extremely good care of us assuring that we were given the time to eat and never rushed us or made us feel like they needed to leave. Absolutely every aspect of breakfast was well cooked and they have a simple easy to follow menu that is very straightforward and the prices are very affordable. The two of us are very well for under $30 which is getting very hard to do anymore so if your ever visiting the lake of the ozarks check it out and there is no sign on the building but it’s next to a pizza shop so it can’t be missed. I have been going here for years, but on the last visit, I came in for breakfast. I love their food, but it was awful. I'm not sure if they changed cooks or standards. However, my fried potatoes were half cooked with a big rotten spot. Cleary throughout the entire center of the potatoe used. The rest of my food was great, except they didn't season my eggs, but I easily remedied with some tabletop s&p, lol. Great service and atmosphere. There is smoking allowed in the front of the restaurant that I appreciate bc it's a sign of freedom, but it may turn some people off. The non-smoking section is much larger.
