De Food Truck in Interlochen, MI is what happens when a chef named Toby decides “yeah, I’m gonna drop Dutch-Caribbean-Asian fusion in the middle of the woods and blow minds.” Mission accomplished.

The curry bowls slap. The squid steak? Wild. Like actually wild-caught. Even the fries are serious, hand-cut and fried twice like someone’s grandma from Amsterdam met your favorite street vendor in Bangkok. Oh — and the whole menu is gluten-free, but you’d never know it. Nothing here feels “substitute” — it feels better.

Joelle (Toby’s wife) brings the vibe — warm, rooted, no-BS hospitality that makes you want to come back, even if you’re just “passing through.”

I’ve actually been struggling what to write/ can’t write anything because I am too busy shoving this curry (which if we’re being honest, I have never had in my entire picky life) down my throat as if it’s my last meal, and by god what a meal it is! Portion size? If it wasn’t being inhaled?? Definitely enough for left overs! Price? Under $20 for locally sourced and cooked fresh food! Fantastic! We have been following their page for a while now. So excited that we were in the area for the soft opening on May30th! It just so happened we were up here from down state for a work conference. The food was excellent! We tried the fish and shrimp dinners! Perfectly breaded and seasoned! As a person that needs to eat gluten free… I was excited to finally have fried fish & shrimp- as I haven’t had any in years!! Would have never guessed it was gluten...
