Would give zero stars if I could. Never ever recommending- even to people I dislike. I've never written a bad review before but this place was horrible.
There was a mother and daughter and another couple in front of us waiting to be seated. My boyfriend and I were forced to stand outside/ in the doorway and wait. Only to find out- with no greetings from the servers or even a sign that said 'please seat yourself'- that there were several empty tables. Which enticed us to step up and ask if we seated ourselves.. The server answered rudely 'if you see a clean, empty table sit there.' Mind you there were quite a few empty tables but none of them were clean. The group of us looked at each other hesitant.
My boyfriend and I sat at the long bar table and recieved dirty looks from a few of the other diners. The looks kept coming until we left the restaurant. Talk about uncomfortable....
We would have gone somewhere else if we weren't so hungry and at this point we committed to waiting in a unnecessary line (you'd think the food was good enough to wait for, but I'll get to that.)
The server was very inattentive our whole vist and it took several tries to get her attention after we ordered our food. All we wanted was a glass of chocolate milk, which we didn't get until after we couldn't eat the food anymore.
We both ordered omlettes- mine was the polish with hashbrowns on the side, which were barely cooked and his was the meat lovers or whatever with pancakes.
Both of our omlettes were piping hot- probably so you thought what you were eating was tasty. I had to lather my hashbrowns in ketchup and my omelette in syrup in order to eat what I could. My boyfriend was hangry so he ate all his omelette- took one bite of the pancakes and couldn't have a second. He said he didn't know it was possible to screw up pancakes.
THE EGGS LOOKED AND TASTED LIKE EGG BEATERS, no joke.
The polish omelette had maybe half a hotdog in it and 6 mushrooms... Talk about packed with flavor. The meat lovers looked like bacon bits were thrown into it. Then, we were both sitting in our bathrooms as soon as we got home.. And our left overs were thrown in the trash.
The way the servers were rushing around and acting like they couldn't hear you when you called for them would make someone think the restaurant was packed- but really there were maybe only 6 tables dining total.
With the cost of the food, lack of customer service and rude atmosphere it's easy to say we will never be going back.
We both agreed we should have gone to Flapjack Shack. ...
Read moreWe stopped in to Dilbert's Cafe for breakfast on Saturday morning on our way home from the Homestead.
The parking lot is huge! We were lucky to walk in and grab a table right as it was finished getting bussed and cleaned up. The inside isn't particularly large, but its very clean. Our server, Justice, is an absolute sweetheart! She had our drinks for us right away even though she had several other tables to tend to. The rest of the staff was very nice and Jovial, as well!
Even though the cafe got quite busy after we sat down, our food came out rather quickly and everything was hot and bang-on and just as we had ordered! The scrambled eggs were perfect! The omelettes were phenomenal. The "half-order" of biscuits and sausage gravy was, honestly, bigger than most of the full order biscuits & gravy that I've had elsewhere. Except for a couple of select places that I've eaten at in South Carolina and Tennessee, these biscuits were, by far, the best I've ever had! The meats were all cooked to perfection! The pancakes were light and airy, and once again, perfect!
Dilbert's was a little out of the way for us on our usual return route home from the Homestead but it was well worth it! Speaking of well worth it... we got a ton of food rather inexpensively! We are already planning our next visit to the Homestead just to go to Dilbert's but from now on we will absolutely be adding a stop at Dilbert's Cafe to enjoy the fantastic feast they provide!
If you're anywhere near Dilbert's, do yourself and your family/friends a big solid and stop in for a bite. I promise that you won't be disappointed!
Keep up the greatness all y'all over there at Dilbert's Cafe!!! Y'all are just as awesome as the food! We...
Read moreI do not appreciate your waitress coming out to confront me over a tip saying I'm in there all the time when clearly I have been there three times this whole year. I live 4 hours away and don't travel too much up here... she claimed we always seat ourselves which is a lie again and then said we never leave a tip. I'm sorry I couldn't afford it this time but my other two times the tip has been almost 7 dollars... she forgot food our 2nd visit and still was treated very nicely and kindly... if u are going to continue to have waitresses like that we can take what business we do bring to your company else where... when I called to talk to a manager and asked for owner information I was denied my request... this is just bad business for your company and many others will see the complaint as I'm placing reviews on Google and Facebook... if an owner would like to contact me that would be great if not I understand u would like for our business to be with another restaurant...
