After the utter dumpster fire that was Denny’s In Bedford, I decided to try a local place. I went to Peggy’s Diner in Claysburg, PA and I must say, I am quite pleased with my experience!
I had a double cheeseburger and curly fries. The burger patties were rather thin, however they had a lot of flavor! The fries were cooked to that PERFECT golden yellow color, although they initially lacked seasoning. Fortunately, that was easily remedied with a few sprinkles of salt and pepper and some ketchup! A simple, but very good and inexpensive meal!
The atmosphere was well lit, clean, and very decorative! It had a very retro feel! On top of that, I noticed there were a lot of customers. As I was waiting for my food, I saw more hungry people walk inside every few minutes! During my visit, it was busy but not overwhelming. I can see why it’s so popular, especially with senior citizens who are probably on a budget!
Overall, Peggy’s Diner isn’t the most remarkable eatery in Central Pennsylvania, but it IS a very good one! With a nostalgic atmosphere, cheap but delicious food, and friendly staff, I can certainly recommend it, especially if you’re on a budget and don’t want fast food! Remember, this is a cash-only establishment, so don’t forget your wallet and a handful of dollar bills! I will definitely return...

Read moreWe recently moved into the area and decided to try Peggy's for lunch after church. The food was good, and there was a decent amount for the price. The staff was pleasant as well.
Two of my three kids got the chicken planks and absolutely loved how crispy they were. For my side salad I asked for blue cheese dressing, which is my go to, and was told they don't have blue cheese, but they have a mix they make of blue cheese and French, which I decided to try and really enjoyed.
We'll definitely go back.
For those considering stopping here, just be aware that they are cash only. There is an ATM on premises. I imagine there may be a usage fee, but can't...
