Literally stopped in the morning for gas and the smell was enticing as well as the waiting line and full restaurant so we decided OTW back we would stop and give it a try..... Walked in and restaurant was now empty, two employees sitting in dining room and third asking me what the problem is because i asked what was included in the combo and was told 2 sides, when i then asked what meat, well what do you want?!?! in a very nasty way, all while still sweeping.. then another work comes to counter and says i dont know asks the person who is sweeping whose response was again WELL WHAT DO YOU WANT? i want to know what and/or how many meats the combo comes with, to which i finally got a nasty 2 response. so i ordered and just said i was tired not they were being nasty... had conversation about how i was traveling and would be driving the food home for dinner later, why if i ordered a wings plate with two sides, a combo platter and a kids turkey sandwich would you think 1 BBQ sauce half filled is suffice? Not to mention the only think that was good was the kids turkey with yams, the chicken was day old reheated in the microwave, the wings were not smoked fully, the ribs were also dried out, the mac n cheese was obviously not made by the same person who cooked the yams because my 5 year old granddaughter can make better mac n cheese then that! Regardless of the day or time (we went at 330- they were open until 6) even if tired from previous busy times we a group of people stop to order multiple orders then great them with the same respect you did the crowd at 11, yes it was fathers day, yes it was busy in the morning, now the only think that was good about the service was how the food was done so quickly, you know long enough to microwave it warm..... as a business owner keep in mind all of your employees are a representation of you in...
Read moreOne of many popular BBQ joints in Alabama that's been on my short list for a visit. I stopped on a drive back north and was glad they were open on a Sunday morning. I wasn't going to make the same mistake twice and decided not to hold back on my order. This may be my last chance at real BBQ for awhile. Located in a gas station just off of I-65, I could see and smell the smoke after parking. It was late morning when I arrived and no line. I ordered the 4 rib plate with mac n cheese and peach cobbler, plus 2 pulled pork and a sausage sandwich for the road. I took my haul outside and ate at one of several picnic tables they have scattered outside. The ribs were tender and slightly smokey, and I enjoyed how the BBQ sauce didn't really add any flavor of its own, but somehow enhanced the flavor of the BBQ. Not just on the ribs, but the sandwiches as well. The Mac was good, but the peach cobbler was a little disappointing. The flavor was on point, but I got way more cobbler than peach. The sandwiches were equally as good as the ribs, a little more smokey though. The sausage was good, but wanted more than what was on the sandwich. Not an issue with the pulled pork that was also delicious. You might what to get extra pickles, plus neither had cole slaw. Woofed them all down on my long drive back to Michigan. They packed my togo order with plenty of BBQ sauce, napkins and utensils. They also have indoor seating, plus gas station convenience items. Bonus I filled up on their cheap gas and I appreciated their lot being big enough to park a 10ft truck and a 8ft trailer and not have to embarrass...
Read moreI have been stopping here for several years. Today was the worst experience ever. I arrived at 11:30 and surprising there were very few people in line. I ordered a plain baked potato and a pulled pork sandwich. After about 10 minutes I was advised that there were no more baked potatoes. I changed my order to one of the specials: 2 piece fried chicken plate with 2 sides. After about another 10 minutes I was advised that they were frying the chicken. When my order was delivered I grabbed and ran to get back on the road. I opened the sandwich for the driver and it was ICE cold…not room temperature but cold. The bottom half of the bun was soggy…odd as there is no dressing of any sort on the sandwich. (You have to add your own sauce). My $13.99 two piece fried chicken dinner (remember, they were frying it) was actually 3 small wings with a large portion of luke warm baked beans and warm potato salad. The wings would have been the equivalent of a leg with their small size. Of interest, there was a wing plate which was cheaper than the 2 piece chicken plate I ordered.
I tried to call my order in on 3 separate occasions with no answer. While I was in the store the phone rang very often and no one ever answered although they could have when no customers were at the register.
These guys are not on their...
