I am a little biased because I work at LOCAL Bar & Kitchen, but I have to brag about this special place! LOCAL is a hidden gem. The staff consists of 5 bartenders/servers, one line cook and a dishwasher who are all great people. The bartenders are all hardworking mothers/young women who are friendly and easy to work with. They’re always accommodating and welcoming, and I’ve seen first hand how guests (local or not) return each week and genuinely enjoy talking to every bartender. The owners of LOCAL are the hardest working people you’ll ever meet. Gian cooks every day with no days off, and every dish he makes is made with care and detail. Seriously, the food is FIRE and I look forward to my shift just to eat dinner. Last night, long after the kitchen staff had left & the kitchen was closed, a guest called to give a heads up that a large group was coming in and one guest was in a wheelchair so he was making sure there was easy access into the bar. Gian moved tables around and re-opened the kitchen, and dished out meals for 15-25 guests all at once within 15 minutes entirely by himself. When the guests thanked him for the food, he said “It’s no problem, I love to cook.” Giovanna runs LOCAL’s social medias, schedules and manages the staff, serves when girls need off, designs all the menus and uniforms and is the kindest person. She is awesome to work for. The bar has tons of local craft beers and tons of TVs for any game you’d want to see. They have live music, trivia nights, and weekly specials. This place is awesome and you will not regret going out of your way to...

Not the same great local bar since new management takeover. Food average, increased prices, posts specials but not available when ordered.New Years eve = no specials or discounts not even popcorn or pretzels on bar.No wonder no patrons..lost familiar local fun and.comfortable feel. Too bad.. had been going there since 1988.Joining former patrons in Paulsboro bars.

Updated review 6/15/18 We decided to give the "Local" at least 6 more chances since my last review because we REALLY hoped to have a great local bar with good food back..Sadly this has not happened. The food is over priced and mediocre at best .Tonight we tried again as the previous cook had returned.Simple order...pizza steak and chicken parm..Over 1 hour later our meal arrived.Sandwich dry and tasteless very overcooked.Chicken parmesan was dry, cardboard like, and without any taste. Linguine was overcooked with bland sauce/gravy..Portion was huge but quality was very disappointing. At least the beer was cold . Wished for the great food of...

I really liked the outdoor setup and the indoor bar is a decent size wrap around, it wasn't busy enough at the time I was there to get an idea of the vibe but first impression is small town corner bar. The first item from the menu that I tried was the loaded fries. Good fries but presentation left a lot to be desired, just a mess with a few lardons of bacon that are camouflaged by the caramelized onions. My wife had the wings and it was nice to have a choice between breaded and naked, the hot sauce is more like black pepper than chili peppers, a point of reference not a criticism. If you are a fan of roast pork, this is a must try. Long hots, horseradish and some of the au jus redeemed my first...

I can not say enough how much I love being a "Local". When you come in the staff makes you feel so welcome. It doesn't matter if you are actually a local or if it's your first time coming in passing through town. The staff will make you feel like you are at home instantly. I come in on trivia night with one my absolute favorite people Abby bartending and have a blast everytime. I also come in with my family for the amazing food for dinner. I am a "Local" and I encourage you to stop by and become one too, you will not be disappointed.

Eight of us from work decided to try this place bc we googled a bar in the area, and it was a great choice. The local bar & kitchen is definitely a hidden gem. The food was awesome, the staff was friendly and swift. The only problem was parking, if you park in one of the small lots behind the bar, that clearly does not have a sign stating that you cannot park there, you will get a nasty little note from one of the residents, we all got notes stuck on our windshield. I will still return because the bang bang shrimp is BANGING!!!!!

Awesome spot, laid-back local bar with excellent food, drink specials, and a solid sports-watching setup, this place delivers. The meatball sandwich was awesome—flavorful, hearty, and even better on Mondays when it’s $2 off. The wings (especially the boneless ones) are also a must-try, with weekly deals that make it easy to come back for more. The bar has a great vibe—relaxed but lively—with plenty of TVs for catching the game. Drink specials like $5 margaritas, $3 beers, and discounted pitchers make it easy to stay a while.
