Tavern In The Bay — Restaurant in Greenwood Township

My wife and I have eaten at the Bay on a number of occasions and have found the food to be average at best. However, the location on the lake provides a nice setting for a dinner experience so we've gone back several times thinking that things would improve. Sadly to say they keep getting worse. Our last visit was with special friends visiting us from out east. Sadly to say the experience was almost embarrassing. Three of us ordered wraps with chips and I ordered the California burger. Everything was overcooked and soggy. I could have pounded nails with my hamburger, that is how well done it was. To make matters worse they charged me $1 extra for the thin slice of extra onion on my burger and $3 for the salad that was suppose to be substituted for the fries on one of the meals. They even charged a $1 for the dressing for the salad. To make matters worse, the noise level from the bar made it next to impossible to have a decent conversation during our meal. Whoever the new owner(s) is/are...fabulous job!! The food has been great both times. While I don't drink, the bar has been updated and way more comfortable. Excellent service!

Update, 1 year later: We went from some of the best food, to the worst food experience, almost ever. We ordered take out. Our bill was $100; we were told 30 minutes. Half of our order was food we DIDN'T order. The mozzy sticks we DIDN'T order also didn't have any cheese in them. Ordered the Black and Bleu burger...it was cooked to shoe leather and had NO blue cheese. A side salad that was nothing more than a pile of nearly spoiled lettuce...and wings that were also way over-cooked and almost no meat on any of them. Side note: We accidentally sent our bad review to the Vermilion Club. Their response was full of apology and they even offered to pay for the entire meal. We promptly apologized for our mistake and all is good. Hint to T.I.T.B. You should've handled it the way VC did, rather than make excuses that didn't even correlate to our order. We will choose...

I would like to preface the following review by saying this is the first time I have ever wrote a review, so I’m not a person who generally complains. This was our 4th attempt to dine here and unfortunately 3 out of the 4 were disappointing. You may ask, why would we keep trying? Well to be honest we were really really hoping it would improve. The location and atmosphere are incredible and we were thinking with summer in full swing they would be fully staffed and have things figured out. Service was horrible! Not only for us but several other patrons who were voicing their dissatisfaction as well. We witnessed 3 individual couples wait over a half our just to be acknowledged by the wait staff and eventually leave after approx 45 minutes without ever even being asked if they’d like to order a drink. Once we were finally able to order and wait for another 1/2 hour our waitress returned to notify me that they could not make the steak salad I ordered because the ran out of steak!
