A friend and i stopped by this location on the long drive back during our last road trip. We wanted a quick place to grab a quick bite to eat. Knowing that waffle houses are generally fast, well priced, and generally taste the same throughout the country. We pulled in and sat down at an available spot. After waiting at least 15 minutes but more than likely 20 minutes a large woman (lets call her Phyllis) waddled over to us and informed us that she would be our server. The wait went by fairly quickly as we began to observe the staff on location, as somethings seemed a bit out of place (more on this later). Our server immediately after informing us that she was to be our server looked up at another table and informed us that she would be right back. She waddled over to them and was gone for another 10 minutes before approaching us again.
Another member of the staff (lets call her Pam as i never got her name) stopped cleaning the dishes and approached us to ask if we had be helped. We informed Pam that another woman said she was our server and walked off. Pam then proceeded to you take our drink order, Our server then approached pan and informed her rather rudely that she had this. Pam kindly handed Phyllis the drink order and went back to doing dishes. Phyllis confirmed our two waters one with ice and the other without and walked away. After 10 minutes of observing the staff i noticed that many members of the staff seemed to be in training or at the least appeared to be green at their jobs.
I Informed my companion of this observation at we continued to watch what i can only express as the greatest comedy diner show i could ever be privy to. This is the point that things went from horrible to entertaining as my companion and i (now the audience) where introduced to Dan. So we observe Dan whom appears to be in charge of both the grill and the establishment during our visit here. Dan seemed to care about those around him or at least seemed to want the acceptance of them. Dan cracked a joke standing behind the grill and checks for approval of any of his fellow staff members around him, Looking mostly at Pam as she tries her best to avoid eye contact with him looking to her other coworkers to get her out of the situation that Dan presented to her. Pam's eyes rapidly went from left to right and back as she scanned the dinner for a way out as only A Gazelles would after noticing that they where separated from the heard and lions where moving in.
I mention to my friend that Dan seems to be trying to court Pam and that she seems to be creeped out by by him. My Companion makes a mental note of this and we continue to observe. After roughly 15 minutes of since our server last stopped by or spoke with us Pam approaches and asks us if our server took our order. I inform Pam that our server took our drink order and walked away 10+ minutes ago. Pam smiles in a reassuring way and asks if she can take our order. I ask Pam "what is with Creepy Dan at the stove". Pam responds "you said it not me!" followed by "do you know what you want?". I inform her what i would like one All star with hash-browns, bacon, scramble the eggs, Waffle at the same time as the meal. My companion follows with with a similar but poorly executed order as it was his first time at a Waffle House. Pam recites our order and turns around.
As Pam turns around Phyllis is standing there with that look a woman has before they throw down. Phyllis informs Pam that she doesn't need her help and calls the order out, that Pam took Down. We continue to watch this story unfold as Creepy Dan (CD for short) leaves the stove to bring food to a table that just came off the stove. CD approaches a table to our far right and we watch as he seems to be trying to keep the guest happy and from walking out. CD rushed back to the stove.

Read moreSo this location - in Grenada, Mississippi. It's very hit or miss with its customer service. The food is great if you can get any though. I stop in fairly often, often I ask for biscuits and gravy - they never make the gravy for whatever reason, which is disappointing, unless the district manager stops in. He is friendly and has your food out fast.. I probably will not be back after this morning. I pulled in and waited ten to fifteen minutes in an empty store not realizing the employees were in their car. I shouted to see if anyone was there and even called. No answer.
It was only after I took out my phone and recorded this short clip that they came running into the store. Very rudely asking why I was recording, as if -I- had done something wrong for wanting service. I was respectful and told them that I did it because I thought nobody was there and had called the location a couple of times while waiting inside. The waitress then rudely asks "What do you want?" While the cook proceeds to mention that she wasn't "sitting in the restaurant and waiting for customers at 4 am"
It was silent and awkward while waiting for them to finish my food - which I feel like I was over charged for out of spite. And honestly felt out-numbered and threatened while waiting.
I love Waffle House. It has been a favorite since I was very young, but I have never been to a location where no matter what time of day the service is slow and often rude regardless of if anyone else is in the store or not. Nor have I felt so cornered, threatened and unappreciated as I do here because I simply wanted service.
So, the ball is in your court. Please make this place the Waffle House we all knew and loved. Your employees have really run this location into the ground and I won't...
