IF I COULD GIVE IT ZERO STARS I WOULD.
Me and my 50 year old uncle that grew up eating Abby's in southern Oregon both agree this was the worst pizza we've had. We spent $97 on two giant half hula chick and Abby's special classic, country bacon and olive. Half order of spuds plus a tip.
The manager I believe, was very friendly with great customer service skills. Cool guy with glasses, greeted everyone coming in, was seen taking orders, making friendly small talk and cleaning. All the other employees were stuck up, rude and disrespectful towards the customers and manager.
I don't expect people to put on a circus show at any job. You're there for 8+ out of your day but the general attitude was gross, turned me off enough to never want to go in there again.
I ordered from the manager and asked him if they could cook the pizza well done "crispy" aka not burnt. He then asked one of the young blonde girls in the kitchen to make them well done.... She responded condescendingly and then stuck her nose in the air and walked away dramatically. All of the workers their seemed bothered by their tasks. Mind you it was completely dead inside. A couple pizzas, spuds and maybe a few orders for 6+ workers. Sat their and watch all of them running around gossiping, being rude to people or not doing anything at all.
When we received the order the girl asked if we needed condiments... But again it was the tone, like I was bothering her. I said sure and got a bag of stuff dropped on my pizza.. then she walked away saying nothing when I told her thank you.
I'm generally a friendly quiet person, I don't give people a hard time unless I'm being treated poorly. Even still I'm cool... I just let the experience roll off me and left with our dinner.
When we got home and started to plate and eat... The pizzas were soft and floppy. Almost like the toppings got cooked but the dough was almost raw and our spuds were burnt.
The food was awful... and the opposite of what we asked for. We spent almost $100 on horrible food and equally bad customer service besides from the manager. I almost in anger drove the food back to ask for my money back but ended up just throwing it out and we made something quick at home.... We live 20 miles out going towards Sandy, Oregon.
I'll never go back to that location again. If you order from the Gresham location do not let those people treat you poorly, leave and check your food. What an absolute waste of money.
Classic regional chain is no longer the place it used to be... Just another fast food pizza chain with bad customer service...
Read moreTonight 12/27/2016 was my families first time eating here. The service was VERY good. The woman who took our order (the reciept says her name was Michelle) was very nice and was able to answer all of my questions and was just all around helpful. The rest of the staff seemed nice as well. You can tell that all of the customers are regulars by the conversations they're having with the staff. Unfortunately the food on the other hand was not very good.
My family and I LOVE pizza and we really wanted to like this place considering the pizza is "legendary" (according to their sign) but the pizza in my families opinion is definitely not legendary.
We ordered a 6 piece parmesan breadstick and a 16 inch garlic chicken deep dish pizza and 5 drinks. The first shock was the price as the cost of just the pizza by itself was over $30 and don't get me wrong I have no problem paying even more than that for a pizza but it needs to actually be great and have good flavor. The chicken was nice and juicy but lacked flavor, the onion tasted like it was a bit old and chewy. Oh and the dough... There's somethin funky goin on with that dough.
There was also something off with the breadstick dough as well. It has a funky hint of patchouli to it so that's weird.
It wasn't very busy tonight and It looked as if there were maybe 20 customers in there total (3 families) and roughly 5 employees but somehow many of the tables were dirty and smudged with oil which doesn't really bother me but it's worth noting.
Another plus is that this place has a phenomenal amount of parking so that's great.
I saw the reviews for this place before posting mine and I hope you'll read through them too and they seemed to be pretty good reviews but the impression I got from reading them was that they were longtime customers throwing 5 stars at their local pizza spot which is fine but clearly Abby's is lacking in a few areas so how can a business fix their problems when they are under the impression that they're doing everything right?
We chose to eat here tonight because we constantly pass by on our way to Troutdale and wonder If it's any good and now we know :( and more than likely we won't be coming back because there's a handful of places in the Portland metro area worth paying that much for a pizza but this isn't one of them.
Maybe I'm crazy and their business is booming but I'm giving them 5 stars for service but a 2...
Read moreI swung into Portland and I have an old Navy buddy and his wife I am ever so fortunate to have kept up with thanks to the miracle of social media. I literally travel the 48 constantly 48-49 weeks a year and had just driven in from Miami FL. As a Gary In/Chicagoland resident I know mom and pop shops and seek them ACTIVELY for fun and gastric delight. Keith and Sunshine were most eager to take me to this Northwestern gem they call their own. I walked in and was taken back to the early 70's in my mind it was Shakeys pizza come back to life. I'm interested. We ordered and I watched the kids make the pies for a couple minutes and was immediately struck by the similarity of how they roll the crust here like they do in West Virginia. NW pizza is mountain pizza. The crust the filled to the edge..the sauce cheese loads of stuff on the pie crispy crust..stunning. Only in mountain areas have I noticed this phenomenon. I am sure it is in other places but not prevalent. Service was good breads and circuses offered at way too high price ie: salad bar etc. I like this place. I would love to throw family get together. A lot of people were doing just that. Win a prize or compare to NYC or Chicago? NO. Win a trophy or regional taste? HELL yes. This place rocks. It is what it is. An area favorite and it is a good solid bang for the buck honest tasty delicious regional out to please it's customer base and make a few new friends along the way. Great stop and I'm glad for the privilege of local fare with the...
