Basil’s Italian has not disappointed in their opening week! We have been there 3 times already and I’m eager to keep exploring the new menu! The pizza under previous ownership was fantastic. Highly recommend the Double Pepperoni! Very wisely they keep the pizzas and they are as good as ever. The new appetizers are delicious. Cheese fries, fried ravioli, and spinach artichoke flatbread were all hits. Service has been excellent. A lot of great staff they’ve hired. They made an honest mistake with the size of the pizza I ordered but went above and beyond to correct the mistake. Great service is so refreshing, especially living nearby and hoping this could be our new go-to. The ice cream is out of this world! I’ll be trying every flavor. Strawberry and lemon and my favorites so far. Dining atmosphere is only so-so. A slight improvement from what it was before. I’m sure options at limited for a quick grand opening. Chicken parm sandwich was disappointing. Chicken itself was great. Bread was soft and fresh but adding chopped lettuce and tomatoes I would avoid next time. Just got soggy and doesn’t go with the marina. I want a crispy Italian roll with crispy chicken, tasty sauce, topped with cheese, oven baked. Bottom line - Give Basil’s a try. Nay, give...
Read moreWe stopped into Basil’s just for ice cream and while the customer service was absolutely fantastic, the ice cream itself left a lot to be desired.
Our hostess and server couldn’t have been kinder or more welcoming. They really made us feel taken care of. That kind of service is rare and much appreciated.
We spent $29 on three small sundaes and one banana split. For that price, we expected something a bit more impressive. The banana split was $12 and came with canned fruit coated in a thick, jelly-like syrup—not the fresh fruit we were hoping for. The peanut butter cup ice cream was mostly vanilla with only a few small pieces of candy, the banana flavor tasted just like banana Laffy Taffy, the strawberry was very artificial, and the chocolate was just okay.
Overall, nothing was bad—just underwhelming, especially given the price. It’s not something we’d go back for, but the service was so genuinely good that it’s worth acknowledging.
If you’re not looking for anything particularly special and just want a place with decent flavor and truly incredible service, this could be a good stop. It’s definitely unique in offering both Italian food and ice cream (though we didn’t...
Read moreWe stopped by Basil's for dinner since we had never been there before. I ordered the spaghetti with meatballs. The first thing I noticed after the waitress brought us our dinner was how watery the sauce was. I took a bite and it tasted really spicy, like too much pepper spicy. I had a few more bites and I couldn't eat anymore. The person with me asked what was wrong so she tried it and said the exact same thing. I've never had tasted a spaghetti sauce that spicy before. So I looked at the menu thinking maybe I ordered a spicy sauce and all it said was meat sauce. Then we looked at the sauce and there was barely any meat in the sauce. The waitress stopped by and ask how our dinner was and I said this sauce is really spicy and it's supposed to be a meat sauce. She said they had been messing with the sauce earlier but didn't go into details. She said I will go talk to my manager and left and came back a few minutes later with the bill. No manager ever came over to talk with us. I asked the person I was with how her sandwich was and she replied okay, but definitely not worth $17.00. I personally wouldn't...
