Well I would like to say that most of my encounters with Yoders were Great with the exception of Saturday 5/14/22..And I've been visiting there since 2016....First of all, when I make these comments I am not trying to discourage anyone from trying Yoders or eating there because I think they have a Grade A Breakfast..However yesterday Im giving the Food and Service a D...First of all, At Yoders you need to know before you visit that you will have at least an hour or more wait before being served mainly on Saturday mornings and Brunch as well..However, when I go Im prepared to wait and so is anyone who comes with me. This time around, If my guest didnt go in to check on our table, We wouldnt have had a chance to eat because the waitress said they were just about to close the kitchen after we waited patiently for an hour. Also we had a buzzer...Now mind you...My guest traveled 2hrs and 50mins. to meet me in Greenville and then we drove another 35mins. to get to Yoders. So you can imagine how irritated and upset we were about being left out. That was strike 1...Not to mention there were 3 other families that were behind us that would have gotten left off...Strike 2. I specifically asked for lemons with my water, the waitress left that out and then brought the lemons out in a papercup lid. Strike 3. I asked for my pancakes to be cooked light on both sides, and eggs scrambled with cheese.Waitress brought my pancakes out dark brown and hard scrambled eggs with no cheese for me and my guest. Strike 4. When We checked out, the little dude with the side burns who checked us out showed no sympathy about the experience that I shared with him. He replied At least we were served. I feel that Yoders missed the mark on yesterday. I believe that they were so ready to go that they pretty much gave us the rush treatment. In other words, Eat your food and hurry up so we can go home. That was very unfair to My Guest and I considering the patience we showed throughout the whole experience. Trust me if it wasnt for a little bit, we could have gotten ugly and been nasty. However we felt like that wasnt the Christian thing to do. So we just left. I felt like we were More omnish and Dutch friendly than the waitress and the checkout guy. Smh. I think we will definitely be taking a Yoders break for a very longtime and relay this experience to others. One change I notice is they have quite a few young waitresses in there who appear to be short and snappy, and not so pleasant attitudes. I understand that Yoders get alot of business on Fridays and Saturdays. However, thats no excuse towards the way we were treated. Absolutely no excuse!!!! Cracker Barrel and etc. sounds Good to me and is closer because Yoders want be getting anymore of my time and money for a while....
Read moreMy husband, father-in-law, and I visited the restaurant recently. It wasnât my first timeâIâve genuinely enjoyed coming here in the past. My father-in-law was visiting for the first time, wearing his Master Chief Petty Officer cap, and several patrons kindly stopped by to thank him for his service.
Unfortunately, that was overshadowed by a staff member who approached our table and said something along the lines of, âYou people must feel mighty special. You're the only Black people here.â
This wasnât just an awkward comment. It was a reminder that no matter how often we visit or how much we spend (my husband had just spent $400 on wind chimes), we were still seen first and foremost by our race.
Itâs painful, because weâve supported this business and genuinely loved the food. But after that experience, I no longer feel comfortable returning.
All three of us walked away feeling disrespected. What might have been intended as casual conversation came across as condescending and racially charged. My father-in-law, in particular, was deeply offended.
This is not about creating conflict. Itâs about naming an experience that many of us, especially people of color, are far too familiar with: being made to feel like we donât belong in spaces weâve supported with our presence, our money, and our peace.
Having said all this, I hope management takes it as an opportunity for reflection, awareness, and growth.
We wonât be returning. He made his pointâand unfortunately, it spoke louder than anything else...
Read moreMy boyfriend had this for the first time a few days ago and fell in love! I got a chance to go with him this morning after a long weekend of working night shifts & now I am in love! We got there just before they opened & there were already people lined up outside! We were able to seat ourselves and we picked a booth. Our waiter (Alex) got our drink & food orders right away. It may have taken longer, but it felt like our food came out in about 5 minutes. Iâm not a huge breakfast person, but I got a pancake and a cheese biscuit. My boyfriend got the cinnamon roll french toast with 2 fried eggs over medium, bacon, and Dutch potatoes. I couldnât finish mine because the pancake was huge & the biscuit was big too! My boyfriend barely finished his. We were both stuffed. The butter syrup is mouth watering! The total for both of us (we both got waters to drink) came out to be around $24. Which is amazing for the amount of food we got. Along with the amazing service! I will recommend this to everyone! We live in New Bern & it is worth the 25 or so...
