Ordered a cup of chowder for $9. Menu said it was Rhode Island chowder. Whoever made this has never eaten chowder in Rhode Island. This was soup with broth, not a stew like chowder should be. As a Rhode Island native this is the worst chowder I've ever seen. Had the fish and chips - the fish was ok, nothing special, but the chips/fries are awful. These seasoned fries have no business pairing with fish and chips, way to ruin it. We also ordered the chicken parm, which was a soggy mess and had to be drained from a cup of water that the chicken and pasta were sitting in. Cheese wasn't even fully melted on the chicken.
This place has high prices and mediocre food. Owner must be trying to make up for renovation expenses. No reason 3 plates of this quality food should cost $90. Bad decisions were made.
This is such a disappointment. All of the restaurants in this area are bad. And this place opens up with a similar menu to Town Grill or the other bad pizza joints around here. If you're going to open a new restaurant, why this? You had an opportunity to make something new and special. What's even worse is people around here are so used to bad food they might actually think this is great. I can go to better places at Foxwoods or Mohegan and spend the same or less and be more satisfied.
Just go to Town Grill. They are better and cheaper.
Edit to respond to owner:
I'm sorry you think that 50 year old "chowder" recipe is good and well received. Honestly, its not good at all, you don't use the right kind of potatoes, and it looked and tasted like you add clam juice and water together - no - this is not chowder. I am only being honest. I recommend you attend Chowderfest in Newport.
As for speaking with management, that is what these reviews are for in a way. We had takeout. Am I supposed to go back to the restaurant, with half eaten food, so I can pick it apart and explain to you everything that is wrong? Chicken parm, literally in almost a full cup of water in the bottom of the container, with cheese on top that wasn't fully melted. A customer shouldn't have to explain in person nor in a Google review that this is just wrong. It should never leave your kitchen like this. Sure, you don't have pizza, but again you are missing the point entirely. How are you charging these prices for this...
Read moreI went to Rubino's Full Circle expecting Dean's Corner quality food. I have to be honest, I was disappointed. I ordered the Mac and cheese with lobster, which I was told was baked. My date ordered fettuccine broccoli Alfredo. I was pleased to see that the Mac and cheese pasta was Cavatelli, however it only had a small amount of bread crumbs sprinkled on top and it was definitely not baked or maybe it was placed in an oven for a minute or two as it was just not crisp and didn't seem to have been actually baked. The lobster was the claws that restaurants buy in a cryovac bag, which would have been fine if the meal was baked and had browned in butter bread crumbs on top. The cheese sauce seemed like it came out of a jar which, also, would have been fine if the meal was actually baked. There was no flavor to speak of, no herbs, no salt or pepper or garlic or onion. My dates dish was also pretty bland and seemed like it was from a jar with no extra effort to flavor it and she said the chicken seemed like Tyson frozen chicken. We did enjoy our appetizers which were clam fritters and shrimp cocktail. The fritters had lots of good sized chunks of clams in each fritters. I'm not sure that I'll return. Maybe to try something else on the menu and see how that goes. I'm not criticizing, just being honest so others know what to expect and maybe owners will make adjustments to food prep. The servers were fine and I left a sizeable tip even though it was not at all what I...
Read moreAfter waiting patiently for all the kinks to be worked out, I, in a party of 7, made our first visit to Rabino’s full circle. Reservations were made and all showed up on time. Sadly, the general consensus of our group was one of much disappointment. While the place seems clean, and bright, it gets crowded and difficult to have conversation. But that was not was unacceptable. What was unacceptable was the discheveled, unorganized, overwhelmed , waitress, whom made many errors in taking the orders, attending to the experience of our group, and at one point, making an unprovoked statement that was borderline disrespectful. She seemed annoyed by our assisting her in corrections. The “ specials menu” was out dated by a week, and all items unavailable. We were notified upon her attempting to take our orders. Steak that was ordered “ rare” came medium well, if not worse. Appetizers were incorrect, and when time to pay the bill, it was an absolute chaotic debacle.. It was obvious that she was not happy that we did not accommodate her and do her job for her. The food was what one would expect from a small town diner, while we had hoped for a bit finer, we were able to dine without much complaints on taste or prep( except the way overcooked steak) I would have to think long and hard about attempting to dine again under the...
