Matt's Place — Restaurant in Grove

03.12.21 A reason to reach for that 5th star. This place has online ordering and pickup. If you are not wanting to eat out just place your order online and have it ready at the window, hot and fresh within 15 minutes. I really couldn't believe it. I Love this restaurant, It is consistently good all around. What a great addition to grove.

Update 10.9.20: Matt's Place still continues to impress, going food still very consistent. Excellent choices and great prices.

Edit 1: Came for lunch, was happy with everything again, fried pickle app, old-fashioned diner burger, onion rings and BLT. Everything was good, The diner burger was a bit dry, but still good.

Have been excited to try this place out, this is the newest restaurant addition to Grove. My absolute favorite breakfast is Chicken Fried steak, I had heard they had good ones so I couldn't wait to try, it was amazing. Took 24 minutes by the time we sat down, until we received our food. The service was excellent, and all of the food we ordered was excellent. The CFS had this beautiful crispy breading, excellent hash browns, and biscuits with sausage gravy. The rest of the table had a pancake, which was extremely fluffy and wonderful, as well as French toast with bacon. The bacon was everything you could want and more from a restaurant bacon order, the fresh toast was crispy and fluffy at the same time, excellent job. I can't wait to try more. My only complaint is the booths are very very small, 4 adults would have a hard time dining together. I am short, I couldn't imagine a larger person being comfortable in these things. All of the stars are for the amazing hostess (but not the food)! She was so sweet, pretty and kind... along with super observant and proactive... please give her a raise! She greeted me very kind and genuine. She took my drink order to help the waitress out and was fast. About 20 minutes later, she came over concerned that i had been waiting so long for the waitress and hadn't even met her yet. So she came prepared with a pad and took my order. I think the waitress came to refill my coffee, though 1 cup was more than enough for me since i don't normally drink it. She didn't say anything, just looked at me, poured coffee into my cup and left. I ordered the chicken fried steak since i heard that it was a "have to try in Oklahoma" with 2 eggs and the hash casserole... so... i don't eat pork and there was pork in the casserole, the eggs were runny (it's ok though, since the hostess took my order and didn't know to ask how i wanted them cooked) and the steak was tough and dry. So, i just ate the eggs after trying some cf.steak and the hash casserole until i saw the pork emerge... that was good though until i saw the ham 😆 It's really hard to mess up breakfast, but... I'm really grateful to the hostess for trying to salvage what was left of my experience by offering me a dessert 🙂 by that point, i really just wanted to get on with my day since i lost so much time there. Atmosphere and décor, both minimal. The food and service excellent.

The usual comment from my wife, only this time stated with emphasis, “That was the best damn chicken fried chicken I have had!” It was a big, big chicken breast steak with excellent crunchy breading. She picked mashed potatoes and fried okra for her two sides. Real mashed potatoes.

$19.99 for a 12 oz ribeye cooked over a flame and two sides. Try and beat that at…. well anywhere! It worked for me with a small side salad and fries. Check the pictures.

The chicken fried steak here has to be fantastic too. On Matt’s website, many of the beef, pork and chicken entrees start their description with the words “hand cut”. That would lead one to believe that Matt cuts the steaks and chops in the restaurant. NE Oklahoma is ranch country. It might be local beef?

Three recommended meals: Chicken fried Chicken, Ribeye, and Chicken fried Steak. Pick from their big selection of sides to round out the meal.
