Peking Chinese Restaurant — Restaurant in Grundy

This is the best restaurant in southern VA in my opinion. We are from the DC area and all the Chinese restaurants in this area are just an awkward version of bad Chinese food. Most of them don't have enough foot traffic to keep fresh ingredients, but not the Peking Chinese restaurant. All the food is always fresh. Their crab Rangoon/ wontons are on point. The hot and sour soup was exactly how it was supposed to taste. The sweet tea, chicken and onions, and strawberry cake were all delicious. They have three whole buffet bars full of food.

I also want to say our server was extremely nice and did a very good job during the church rush. She was thoughtful and paid attention to drinks and made sure we didn't want anything off the menu after we got our food from the bar.

The entire restaurant is very clean and fresh. The tables were clean, the floors were clean, bathroom was clean...

The people who own and manage this restaurant, to the best of my knowledge, are from mainland China. Finding such a family and this restaurant in Grundy, is as far as I am concerned, absolutely wonderful. I have eaten Chinese food in New York, Boston, Washington, D.C., Hong Kong, Bangkok, Thailand, Los Angeles and the San Gabriel valley east of Los Angeles. I have eaten really expensive, fancy Chinese food and really inexpensive food. I liked this place, the food is good and it is wonderful when there is simply no other place around for miles. I was there on a day and time when it was buffet time. If I am in the vicinity I would definitely go back again. Give credit when credit is due. I have been to Chinese restaurants from Boston MA. To Orlando FL. Give or take at least 50-60 different restaurants in the last several years. This restaurant is in the top 5 of my favorite Chinese Restaurants. I definitely wasn't expecting the quality of food from this remote place in super southern VA. My food was to -go, but If you ever get the chance to dine-in, take a moment to look around to the attention to detail in this restaurant. It's obvious to me this is a proud owner. I'm not sure how this restaurant made it to this remote spot, but the locals are lucky to have a place like this. The price is no contest to 90% of other similar restaurants.
