The views and the setup are amazingly nurturing to anybody's soul. My friend and I we had ordered at the cafe and he got the salmon salad. Which we found interestingly different in a sense that the salmon portion was extremely small I would say less than 2 oz not even that placed on top of a huge bed of microgreens. The dressing was really good but I would say that it was way overpriced. Especially because the salmon was just so tiny. I have gone to other restaurants that have had smoked salmon that was about 4 oz or more for the same price point. We didn't realize what kind of restaurant it was until we started ordering and look at the menu. But for what it offers of being organic and natural and some gluten-free it was a nice place. I ordered the clam chowder which was gluten-free. I didn't realize how watery it was going to be. It was extremely thin in consistency. The flavor was delicious but I would have to say black pepper was laced completely through and through the soup. Towards the end there's a little bit untolerable with the amount of residual black pepper that was left at the bottom of my container. And price was a little bit over what I expected as well and I believe it was around $10 or so for a medium so cup. I believe I that I'm just so used to that creamy texture that you all so believe in with clam chowder. Even if it's gluten free you can still come up with a very creamy texture by blending the potatoes or even another starchy gluten-free additive. Still making it very natural. But that's just my opinion. Would I go there again? Probably for the views and probably for the natural soda that they offer . Not...
Read moreI have always wanted to try this cafe but I always drive by in an RV to go camping so I've never been able to stop. Yesterday we made the 3 hour drive for a day trip to spend a few hours at the beach and were so excited that now, in a car, we could finally stop at Cafe Aquatica! The outdoor seating made it look like such a fun atmosphere. We got in line at 3:30 but after a 10 minute wait (and about 6 people in line behind me) an employee told us that the woman in front of me would be the last customer and they weren't taking any more orders. I explained we only wanted drinks. We wouldn't keep them past their closing by any means. But it was their explanation for closing early that really irked me: they had a long day and needed to close early. WTH? You serve tourists who travel from all around who count on your posted hours to be true- they've all had long days! But because you're having a "long day" you tell EIGHT people you won't serve them? Horrible customer service. I wonder how the owners feel about lost revenue and 1-star reviews. Either way, my itch is scratched. I will never again long to stop at this place as I drive by. I will say as my foot was out the door she begrudgingly said, fine, get your drink. But at that point I certainly wasn't going to give them my money. I knew there were places in Bodega Bay just up the road with lovely views, who stay open their posted hours and have great customer service. If you need a place to go, try The Birds Cafe!...
Read moreVery overpriced, ho hum food, and a very long wait time.
The chowder had a lot of clams in it but was very thin, as though they had watered down the last of a batch to stretch it for another day or two. The bagel and smoked salmon was good, but that is very foolproof and easier to get right than wrong.
Ridiculously long wait. I can't think of anything easier than to ladel some soup into a paper cup, and put a bit of salmon and cream cheese in a bagel. Why should that take forever? Isn't making people wait for no reason just bad service?
And the prices are just too high. I can understand paying a premium for sitting out on their deck and enjoying the view, but the deck and view are NA due to Covid. All that remains is the big prices.
The political messagery -- rainbow flag, LGBTQ-friendly label etc. Is also irrelevant. You are simply taking delivery of a bagel through a little hole in the window -- What sort of LGBTQ friendliness are you getting with that bagel that is not on offer everywhere else, and why is it worth a premium?
Absent the deck, paying extra to eat here is silly -- you are being charged for a view and dining experience that is just not...
