I seek out 'grab and go' breakfast places and was excited to try gold coast, I'm sorry to say it fell short of great.
In summary: With the exception of the pinwheel, the pastries were ok Needs a better order system in store
In long: We went on a weekend morning and most of the staff were friendly. I ordered my drink and food and my partner went after.
A drink was placed on the counter that looked like mine, I asked the staff person if it was an iced latte. She was busy but did say yes (I neglected to clarify if it was oat milk and take responsibility for it). I took the drink and took a sip. As i took a sip, several of the staff called to me that it wasn't my drink that I took.
I was super embarrassed, apologized, and shared that I had asked to clarify. The staff person looked pissed and took the drink back from me and provided me mine. I apologized to the person waiting and ducked outside to wait for my partner on the patio.
He was gone for about 10 minutes and when he showed up, he explained that someone apparently took his order and they had to remake it. The same staff person told him that it's the fault of people 'jumping the line'.
I wanted to share that they don't provide numbers or names on orders and in our two separate instances we saw two issues. I'd strongly encourage to have a better food order system.
For food I ordered a ham pastry which to my suprise was cold and had something like curry in it. Also though it was around 10am on a Saturday they hadn't baked any cookies and just had one type of day old ones. The pin wheel was good though and had the right amount of...
Read moreI can only comment on what i bought which was a blueberry muffin, a blueberry-apple triangle thingy, and a mocha coffee. The mocha coffee was good and im not going to say id had better because i treat my mocha intake like how people treat and savor their wine. Everyone has their favorites. The mocha coffee was good and it was different.
The blueberry muffin was.....for the lack of a better word....superfluous. Im starting to like blueberry muffins and the blueberry muffin i had at this place was deliciously scrumptious!
Now, choosing a blueberry muffin was easy.....however....the nice lady was giving me options. She highly recommend me to get the blueberry-apple triangle pastry. I forgot what she called it, but i got it. It was nice and warm and ohhhh so good. It was a good thing i drove off or else i would have gotten another one. Thank you madam for recommending me that specific delicious goodness triangle pastry. I just wish i can remember the name of the one you recommended me. (Im salivating as i type ha ha ha).
The coffee and bakery shop was a good size place and it smelled really good the moment you open the door and if heaven had a coffee and bakery shop..... im sure it would smell like this place. Mmmmmmmmm. Too bad its a hidden gem. My mocha was almost instantly made and my pastries was nice and warm.
Make sure to tip those ladies...
Read moreA huge disappointment in every regard. The service was so incredibly rude- they refused to give recommendations for pastries, scoffed when I asked for the wifi password (and noted their network is named "stop asking for the wifi"), and then loudly complained to their coworker about me for asking as I was at the counter finishing my transaction. The person working the register had also stared impatiently at an older guy a couple of spaces back for loudly talking on his phone, but he wasn't anywhere near the front of the line and was clearly wearing hearing aids. She literally stopped serving the person who was at the counter ready to order, just to shame this guy. Their coffee was fine but any modifications (iced/nondairy) costs multiple dollars, and their baked goods tasted like day olds.
I realize that most customers are being jerks during covid, and that everyone is short staffed- but I am also industry, tipped despite the bad service, and was polite and concise when ordering. It's very reasonable for a customer to expect that a coffee shop has wifi, and even if you don't, there's no need to gaslight someone for asking. The whole interaction was pretty shocking and really soured our trip. Would...
