My parents took me here, as I was looking for a place to eat mofongo near where we were. We arrived and found ample parking ( 5pm on a Sunday). The waitress immediately seated us; we had margaritas to start, the fried fish (mero) and the plantain soup. The fish was lightly breaded and tasted amazing. The soup was a bit on the salty side for my taste but had great recao and garlic flavor to compliment the plantain. For the main course we all had mofongo with different protein: I ordered shrimp and my parents had chicken and fried pork. The mofongo had the option of choosing if it was with unripened or ripened plantain, or mixed. We all chose unripened. You can also choose the mofongo to have a topping of butter, white cream, al ajillo (garlic), salsa criolla, or with sautéed onions. I chose the onions, the pork was complemented with salsa criolla and the chicken was al ajillo. They were all very well done, with the mofongo not being dry (chicken broth was added to soften the texture). All three proteins were delicious, and was a very generous portion. It came with a small side of salad which had a very good salad dressing. The food was more than enough that we didn't order dessert. Excellent service, great food and the place was really nice. Will most...
Read moreLoved this place! 1st time visiting was yesterday. Karina was our waitress. She provided excellent service and treated us like family. The atmosphere was very relaxed and welcoming. You have two options, sit outside or inside a salon. The only thing I would improve is the salon decoration to go more accordingly with outside rustic decorations. The food was awesome. Tostones filled with longaniza were my appetizers, which were really good. My husband tried the Mamposteao Risotto, my children a plate that is called The Mac and Cheese. They loved their plates. I tried the Pastelon filled with longaniza and beef with Leon potatoes. Wow! It was delicious!! Will definitely return...
Read moreVisited Trattoria Caribeña in Gurabo recently and had a mixed experience. While the ambiance was nice and the service prompt, unfortunately, the food fell short of expectations. I ordered the risotto with chicken, but the chicken was dry and the risotto lacked flavor. On the bright side, my husband enjoyed his churrasco with rice and beans. The highlight of the evening was definitely the delicious mojito de parcha and refreshing beer, which arrived just in time for happy hour. Overall, it was a bit hit and miss, but the drinks certainly...
