My family was visiting and we thought this would be a nice outing for lunch and some playtime for the grandchildren. We browsed the market and selected several items from apple butter to produce to gifts. The disappointment came once we ordered lunch. We had five in our group and two ordered the quiche. Very overpriced for the small serving size and very bland with no seasoning. The kids meals are definitely better at McDonald’s. Two sun teas were ordered @ the cost of $3.00 each. The cups were over half filled with ice which left little room for tea. When I asked for a refill I was told “no refills.” I was completely astonished after spending over $40 on lunch alone at your cafe. (Still had not paid for the other items selected in the marketplace) Voiced my displeasure with the management and this is the brief explanation given: Our policy is no refills. We fill the cups with more ice during the warm months. We will have to look into this. Seriously! You can’t spare a refill, with a glass already half full of ice, at the inexpensive cost of a tea bag that brews in the sun? C’mon Way Fruit Farm you CAN DO better. Needless to say, we returned the basket full of items we were going to purchase and decided to give this establishment no further business. We have too many other wonderful businesses here in Centre County where we can spend our dollars and not receive this type of attitude. It’s not always about every last cent Way’s. I hope it was worth it to you to loose the business of...
Read moreStore is 12 miles southwest of State College. If you're located southwest of State College, Way Fruit Farm can be very convenient. I have not done due diligence to determine how much extra I'm paying for the convenience, but appreciate getting groceries 2 miles from home instead of 12 miles to State College. Happy to patronize local business instead of big corporate stores. If I need gallons of milk, dozens of multicolored local eggs, wide wide variety of baked goods, candy, whole bean and ground coffee, tea, snacks, potted plants, good variety of frozen pork & beef. Not much chicken, but I want thighs, and that's what they carry. "Amish Country Popcorn" kernels by the pound. More grocery items. A smattering of crafts. Indoor sandbox for toddlers. Popular eat-in / take out. Last couple of weeks, the fields are filled with people picking their own strawberries. Fruit and veggies, plump and fresh, from their own farm around the premises and I think some others locally supplied, but I never saw any "organic" selections. At the moment, they have a bin full of the largest Fuji apples in the world, plus other varieties. I think apples are Way's pride...
Read moreI went here once a few years back and all I remembered was they sold a bunch of apples. I went back the other day and there was a LOT more stuff than I thought! There's a small selection of produce besides apples, but there's also tons of other products, not all of them made by Way. They have a cooler/freezer with other handy and often local items like milk and pasta from Fasta. I'm sure it's handy for people who live in Stormstown. There'a deli in the back where you can get some meats and cheeses sliced; I thought maybe you could get a sandwich back there, since there's some tables to sit at, but I'm not sure about that. The deli worker was having a cute old-timey small town conversation with a customer and I didn't want to interrupt. There's also candies and snacks and things that might make for good gifts. Oh, and other apple products from Way, like applesauce (delish!) and these dehydrated pillow-type things (delish!) (They also carry a small selection of really crappy white bread??) It's worth a look if you're in the area, and definitely if you live here. They accept bank/credit cards...
