Please, I beg you, before you call this little local pizza spot up for dinner tonight, read this review.
I live nearby and have been coming here once in a while for years. Last night I ordered a cheesesteak. Now, I tend to be admittedly picky about what I eat, so I sometimes pick through my food for pieces that don’t look that appetizing. Boy. I am sure glad about that now.
HALFWAY into eating it, I saw a piece of steak that didn’t look quite like the others, and went to examine it closer by going to pull it out.
It was a roach. Or some sort of bug. Black, brown, and slightly orange. The size of my thumbnail. Dead. Fully intact. All 6-8 legs. Dead in the middle of my cheesesteak. Cooked within my steak. My boyfriend was eating a cheesesteak as well.
Needless to say, I yelled for him to stop eating it, stop eating any of it, and it was thrown in the trash. I had to stop myself from vomiting for a long time. I was this close. I had to go to the bathroom and brush my teeth and rinse out my mouth numerous times. Understand that I had already eaten half of this sandwich that had a roach in it. If I had not been examining the food, I was about to bite into it. That would have added such a fun crunch.
Afterwards, any time i got a stomach pain last night, i assumed i was about to be sick. That is an absolute flagrant health violation. Whatever they are doing with their meat, it’s not sanitary. Some cook actually cooked this meat, with a roach in it, and didn’t have the slightest clue.

Read moreHave you ever said to yourself, "nothing is the same anymore".... Well this place is the exception. I have been coming to this little gem for 28 years (freshman year of high school) and it's consistently delicious. The pizza is what I like to refer to as old boardwalk pizza. Tastes like the slices I used to get down the shore as a kid before they started making every pizza gigantic and $7 a slice. Nino's pizza is either a thin delicious Neopolitan or a rich thicker Sicilian with many topping choice's. Their Cheese steaks are awesome, not huge but always on fresh toasted rolls with plenty of meat and toppings to choose from. They have chicken or steak versions which are great. The owner has been there with the same staff working for him and his son. Probably why the food is always good and consistent. This is an old school pizza joint that takes pride in the food. It has truly become a neighborhood tradition and did I mention they are always open and open late. Give it a shot you won't be...
Read moreThis is the best pizza around. Crust is excellent, toppings delicious. This place is no frills - just how I like it. The old-school feel of the building and interior is an added benefit. There's space to sit if you want to eat there. I've found customer service to be perfectly fine.
It feels like the pizza places I grew up with and I'm so glad they're around. Give them a try! Their slices freeze and thaw well too, so I always get extra to put away in case of emergencies.
Cash only, so be prepared for that, but it's worth keeping some cash on hand just in case you have a craving for Nino's. Be warned, though, if you go once, you'll be...
