It has been a long time since I have had a meal this delicious that we were planning our next visit before our meal was even finished! From the moment we walked up to the take out window and Rick (not sure Rick took our order but his welcoming kindness made me believe he owned the business) from that moment I felt I was invited to a family barbecue. He survived my questioning like a friend who truly cares that you enjoy your meal. It seems in the past few years no one cares if you like the food or dining experience. Rick's did more than that ,he made my million questions fun and answered not only with words but when I asked if they made their potatoe salad and Cole slaw a big smile came over his face as he handed my husband and my self a cup of each to try......that is more then service, that is believing in your product so much you want to show it off..It was truly the BEST potatoe salad I have ever had. We continued to order , which was now very difficult because only picking 2 sides with all the homemade choices! We ordered 4 and paid for the extras. After trying our choices I wanted to order all 10 they we that good. Our order was Rack of Rib ("Rick" suggested we order the sauce on the side so we can add just the right amount to our order, this proved to be a good idea because we got to taste just how good the barbecue was, the smokey, spiced just right tender ribs that could be enjoyed with just a touch of their amazing sauce) we also ordered brisket, potatoe salad, Cole slaw, baked beans, Mac and cheese. The meal included home made corn bread. I wanted to order the banana pudding but just sold the last one. We sat in the covered outdoor pavilion which had large fans and TV to keep you both entertained and cool. Our meal arrived a few moments later, it was placed in take out containers. Heavy duty paper plates were also passed around so you could serve yourself. The portions were that large I believe everyone goes home with a lunch for the next day! The ribs were so meaty we have another dinner for our busy week ahead. I had already discussed how delicious they were above but I have to add they were made with love...cooked slow, with love....The brisket was so tender with fresh flavors our conversation came to a halt as all you could hear between us was the fork, plate and occasional yumm coming from the two of us...the sides were equally as good as the main course, baked bean were both tangy and sweet leaving you to look for more, the Mac and cheese was truly home made and I'm still talking about the potatoe salad. The meal could not have been better, but it did get better...Rick walked up to our table with 2 freshly made banana puddings on the house, he told us to wait awhile so the wafers good soak up the fresh banana and pudding. Besides being so nice when we tried the pudding later that night we not only can't wait to go back we are making a list of who we can...
Read moreI've been a fan of Deweys for many years, once hiring him to host a BBQ for the company I worked for. I was a little taken aback when I went by there this past weekend and found the place under new ownership. I was hanging for BBQ, having driven down to the shore from Philadelphia, so I took a chance and turned into the parking lot right off Route 40 In Mizpah. I can tell you now, No Worries, the tradition of great BBQ food carries on. This was our first out of the house dining experience since the Covid-19 lock down started and it couldn't have gone better. The ribs were great, the corn cooked just right and the cole slaw was about the best I've ever eaten. We ordered a six piece chicken wing side. OMG, these are not your usual puny pub style chicken wings, these looked like they came off a Pterodactyl. They were huge. There is a big outdoor eating area, with picnic tables under a great screen enclosure so you can easily practice social distancing while getting a home cooked style dinner. The girls behind the register seemed to have a little trouble with getting the order put in, but they were cheerful and helpful and eventually it got in and done right. Probably beginning of the season nerves. Everyone was really nice. We met Rick while we were eating and he was super interested in our dining experience, a great sign an owner is invested in its success. Give it a try, you won't be disappointed, and you will be helping maintain a great South Jersey...
Read moreRick catered a small family get together of about 15 people. Had ribs, pulled pork, brisket, BBQ chicken for the meats. All were excellent well seasoned, good pieces of meat. For the sides we had a potato salad that was excellent as well as mac n cheese, baked beans, collard greens that were all 5 *. Also had cornbread that we just reheated from last night's event and it was still soft, moist, and melted in my mouth with some butter on it. Unlike others that I contacted he actually had the order delivered to me. The driver was very kind and professional, bringing in several trays and helping me set them up. The food was nice, hot and fresh. We have both been to his place in Mizpah and had the catering event and would strongly recommend both. I spoke with Rick directly and he worked with me throughout the process making sure that he did everything that I wanted, which he did. My whole family raved about the food and we had enough where everyone was able to take home a plate and I have already got texts and calls saying that they were again enjoying a meal. All this and the price was very reasonable for the amount of food. Much thanks to Rick & his crew and feel confident in either eating in, picking up or using them...
