Saturday night's date night brought us to yet another restaurant we had never been to before. I had heard some good things about this place, so we pulled the trigger and drove down to Hampton to CR's The Restaurant(Pic 1). They are located just off I-95 on Rte 27. Driving up to and then entering the restaurant left us with quite the impression and the promise of things to come. After being seated at our table, we began looking over the menu. A few minutes later our waitress Anne stopped by and introduced herself and told us about the evening's specials. For an appetizer, my wife ordered the Sweet Potato Stew(Pic 2). This was made with sweet potato, black-eyed peas, chorizo and kale. She just loved this app. It had a slight kick, was savory and delicious. I ordered the Beet Salad(Pic 3). It was loaded with fresh watercress, red and golden beets, dried cherries, shaved red onion, sunflower seeds and a refreshing goat cheese vinaigrette. Wow, this was a wonderful salad and big enough for 2 to share, which I didn't. It had great flavor and the cherries added nice depth to the dish. I would definitely order it again. For dinner, my wife ordered the Caesar Salad with Grilled Chicken (Pic 4). This was a really big salad that included romaine lettuce, croutons, cucumber and their own house-made dressing. The chicken was moist and tender and grilled perfectly. For my dinner selection, I chose the Mediterranean Shrimp(Pic 5). The dish included 6 large shrimp sautéed in a white wine lemon broth with mixed olive, capers, garlic, spinach and spaghetti. I savored every bite of this dish. This dish had so much flavor!!! What I loved, is that when I was finished, there was hardly any broth left. It wasn't runny, it instead looked more like a gravy. I've had dishes that were swimming in broth before. This dish was perfect and I was sad it was gone. Anne asked us about dessert and we said yes. She brought us the dessert menu and decaf coffee. We decided on the Tuxedo Mousse(Pic 6). As you can see, there is a white chocolate mousse on the bottom, then a dark chocolate mousse above that and then topped with a thick chocolate ganache. On the side was a dollop of whipped cream sprinkled with cacao nips. OMG!!! It's a good thing we split that. Holy cow, this was sssoooo good. The mousse was light but teeming with flavor and the ganache was rich. This was a decadent dessert and a fitting way to end a lovely evening. CR's The Restaurant didn't disappoint and the promise we felt upon arrival was delivered in spades. Their menu is extensive and the food is as good as the restaurant looks. It's beautiful inside and out. The service Anne provided us was impeccable. We will definitely make the drive to Hampton again to try other dishes. If you haven't been, you may want to consider adding this gem to your list. Dine on!

My wife and I stopped by here for lunch on a quiet Friday before Easter. While the restaurant design and upkeep are absolutely beautiful the service and food are incredibly underwhelming. From the moment we were greeted we had the feeling we'd be turned away from the absolutely empty restaurant since we didn't have a reservation. Since only 2 other tables had customers we were able to squeeze in. The lackluster service began with an iced tea that was as cloudy as the Merrimack River on a summer day. I asked for a coke instead. What appeared next was a 8 oz coke. Since it was so small I waited until my entrée arrived to start imbibing and only discovered that it was flat as could be. Unfortunately our server never came back around to check on us until it was time for the check. Somewhere along the way I asked for water that came but was never refilled. My burger was tasty but the bun to meat ratio was skewed to too much bread. The burger came dry with only LTOP and no mustard, mayo and only ketchup for the fries. Again, I asked for the things but has the sense I was inconveniencing our server. Service is what separates restaurants of this ilk and the likes of fast causal. Sadly service is what absolutely wrecked this meal. No inquiries about the murky tea. No asking if we needed our water refiled. No checking to see if we needed anything after our entrees arrived and no follow up before the check arrived. I would be a bit more understanding if they were even the slightest bit busy but that was far from the case during this sleepy lunchtime service.

This place looks fanatic, great ambiance and lovely reviews. My husband and I have been in the restaurant industry for over a decade, and we enjoy going out to eat. Looks can be deceiving! We got the octopus and pork belly appetizer. Octopus was shoe leather with a simple salad arrangement on the bottom. Pork belly was mediocre, and not the worst part of our dinner. We were told when we got our drinks that there would be bread while we wait for our appetizers. We had to request it once our appetizers arrived, and the bread was cold. But the spreads they brought to accompany the bread were the best part of the meal. It was a variety of maple butter, olive oil, and hummus. For entrees we got the braised “short rib” and the sea bass ragu special. The “short rib” was definitely not a short rib. And my sea bass although the fish was perfectly cooked and seasoned the ragu on the bottom was pizza sauce with added white beans, you can tell this was just thrown together quickly. The service was very slow, but it was a busy Friday and they were polite. So that’s a given with any restaurant. Overall the food was mediocre at best, and no where near worth the price you pay. Will never be back.

I will start by saying my wife and I do frequent CRs on a weekly basis, however we continue to be impressed with the customer service when issues do arise as they did last Friday (10/20/17). This past Friday we arrived seperately for a scheduled 7:00pm reseration, and to my surprise there was no parking to be found within the CRs lot. I found this a bit frusterating as there were multiple cars circling all seaching for that one spot when it did open up. After about 15 min of circling I did get a spot albeit making me 15 min late for my reseravation. My wife dealt with the same issue upon her arrival and after performing the same circling I did she parked right up front to come and get me as we thought about leaving due to the lack of parking availability. My wife and I expressed our concerns to both the hostess as well as to the GM and not only did the GM personally go find / hold us a spot, but they also compensated us for the aggrevation of it all. I find that when and if CRs has any customer service related issues they deal with it in real time and try to make it right even if the fault is not theirs. The bottom line and what keeps my wife and I coming back as well as recomending it to others (a foursome the following night), is this: Quality food, Attentive knowledgeable staff and great customer service which is becoming more rare in this day and age. Thank you to the staff and managment at CRs for setting a high bar to follow.

UPDATE: We still frequent this establishment.. There is a new Chef as of a few months ago. It is our opinion some of the food items are not prepared as well as the previous Chef / Kitchen staff, and some of the menu was streamlined as far as we can tell. We will continue to go and leave feedback on the comment cards, however if improvements do not occur is be inclined to drop the...
