Anna's — Restaurant in Hancock

I have eaten on and off here for about a year and the food is normally very good. However, there’s been a few times that I called and the phone line has been busy for an extended period of time. I didn’t think a whole lot of it until this happened recently so I decided to physically go into the building and when I questioned this I was informed that they’ve been really busy and they took the phone off the hook. That would explain why I called on and off for 15 minutes straight and continue to get a busy signal. I do not mind supporting local businesses but stuff like this and attitudes from other places is what makes me not want to be local with my purchases. I would’ve given them probably five stars but the phone off the hook, really got under my skin. I have worked with the public ever since I was 16 and I’ve never been at a place that did that. I realize they are privately owned and they have the right to do as they please with their business but unfortunately you may face a customer loss. I am willing to update this review if something positive changes...

The first time I ordered a gyro from here it was okay-ish. If I recall correctly there were thin slabs of ground beef and lamb (which was fine) but it was dry and there was hardly any veg on it...just a few bits of onion and a couple of tomato slices. I was somewhat tipped off that I wasn't going to get an authentic Greek gyro when the woman who answered the phone didn't recognize the proper pronunciation for gyro ("ee-row") and pronounced it "Ji-ro". Still, it was passable.

The 2nd time I ordered it the meat was basically something that looked like lunch meat, and again almost no veg.

I thought this might be a good place for grabbing something for dinner on a day too hot for me to want to cook or when I just didn't have the time or energy, but with today's gyro I have decided to not go back. Very...

New owner's. Nice guy. There was an honest mistake with our order, which was caught before we left thankfully. Had to wait for it to be remedied but we weren't in a rush. It wasn't a long wait. Then we didn't come home with our salads but they delivered them to us very quickly, gave us a free Greek salad and a couple nice treats for dessert for the inconvenience.
