Best. Chowder. Ever. I have seriously never experienced a haddock chowder as amazing as Chip’s. It has won many awards and it is very easy to see why. Each meal comes with a sample of it, but I highly recommend upgrading it to a cup rather than a sample or you’ll regret it forever! I recently took some family here, who know great seafood, and their reaction to the entire meal was, “best seafood I’ve ever had!” Chippers is even catering my brother’s wedding. This food is the real deal. They are only open on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday for dinner so make a reservations as fast as you can. You will not regret it!

We had a lovely meal at Chipper's during our most recent trip to Maine. We called ahead to make a reservation, which is required. We tried to pop in last year and remembered how great the food smelled. Glad we made the point to go back. They are only open from Wednesday thru Saturday. Food was great. I had panko encrusted haddock and hubby loved his lobster Alfredo. Friendly service and cute atmosphere. Definitely worth the trip!

Best steak dinner ever!!! Everything was terrific here. The margarita was perfect, haddock chowder... WOW... salad with ranch... Just right and the steak and the potato was perfect. Can't wait to go back when we visit this area again. Wonderful service too!!!

Revising my prior positive review.

Last Friday my wife and I hoped to dine at this restaurant. We've eaten here before, without a reservation and a supposed full book.

We left a VM at 10am for a 5pm reservation (when they open). We were called at 2:30p and told that they were full. Fair enough.

At 5:15p, we were driving by and noticed almost no cars in the parking lot so decided to stop in. As expected 2/3 of the restaurant was empty. After a 10 minute wait to get noticed, we were told they were full...no explanation given. We inquired about staffing as we thought they may have been short-handed, but no. We asked about all of the open tables and were quickly told they were reserved for 6:30p (again, it was 5:25p at best). They were also quick to point out that they were only open for 3 hours as if that explains their expected empty restaurant when we wanted to dine.

I can only speculate that they just didn't want to work and were comfortable with an empty restaurant for the first hour at least of their night.

We drove down the road to another "full" restaurant which was more than happy to accommodate us.

We will not be attempting to...

Chippers is a sleeper— I can’t tell you how many times I’ve driven past this place to go to Provender before stopping in to eat here.

So pleasantly surprised by each meal and dish I’ve had here. You can tell the chef/owner puts a lot of love into his food and uses fresh ingredients.

Their chowder, I must say, to reiterate everyone else’s statements is absolutely out of this world—-as in no other chowder competes, and I myself am incapable of making a chowder that delicious. It is heaven sent chowder from the chowder gods.

Warm homey atmosphere a bit upscale but casual and relaxed and the servers are all so attentive and sweet. They usually run mysteriously inexpensive drink specials and if you can get a seat at the bar, the bartender is fabulous

days and hours are limited and reservations are encouraged and currently at the time of writing their reservations are from 5-7pm only, so get there early and call to reserve seats— at...

We made reservations at 7 pm on 7/10 for our 3-year anniversary. We arrived on time and were seated. The whole evening took too long. From bringing over the "Nights Specials" on the chalkboard (5 minutes) to ordering a glass of wine and a draft beer. (7min) Then came a couple scoops of chowder, to go with the extra cost of sourdough loaf and roasted garlic in oil, which were served separately. l We should have gone with the house rolls. Expecting salad...we waited...ordered another round...and waited..OH the small dinner salad came- with house vidalia onion (way too sweet). Ate that anyway. And waited....20-30 minutes. Finally-90 minutes after arriving my husbands Filet Mignon dish came. And we waited for mine to arrive...Minutes later my seafood Scampi arrived. We ate fast and were out of there as quick as we could go. The room was filled, then it emptied and it was obvious we were left behind. $145 later +$30...
