*12-29-24 update. The stars are increasing!
Weâve been back 2x since the first review and the experience at the bar has been fantastic. Very attentive service, fabulous wings!
Wings: Charbie is an excellent choice! Highly recommend (extra crispy as always)
OhâŚthereâs a âsecret menuââŚ.wing flavors. The picture share with the âBâ is âBurches? Maybe Birches?â As a hot horseradish ranch sauceâŚrecommend cutting with their blue cheese or ranch.
Well, where to begin but the beginning.
If you live in Harborcreek, you certainly have heard or know of the Fiddle Inn, where you âFiddle in and stumble outââŚsays local lore.
I wanted to give it a go after it shut down, new owners and a refresh. I had high hopes, they are waning like an Erie sunset.
The tale begins with a later Saturday night attempt to feed hungry kids and two adults. Letâs give the new Fiddle a try. We figure itâs not going to be busy, and it really wasnât.
It started with quick seating and a drink order. Then nothing. For at least 15 minutes.
There are about 5 young staff running around as âserversâ? Yet no attentiveness.
You need to get better if you donât want to crash and burn a brand new/refresh establishment. The young staff seem to be trying but clearly arenât trained.
Overheard other customers with concerns and confusion around wing orders, which will strike fear in âCreekersâ as wings are a good thing throughout Erie and if you screw that up in this town, you probably should move to Ohio.
The level of busy: It was (is as I write) 845pm 8 folks at bar.
6 tables were sat in the main/bar room area.
If you like Touchtunes at airplane decibel, youâll enjoy the music.
So whatâs the positive? I hope the food. We finally had a nice young man (after my wife had to go get the beverages from the bartender), come take the order.
First food to the tableâŚonion rings in a basket. Iâve seen onion rings served in baskets before, or towered on a spit. The onion rings are good, crispy, with a side of ranch (passes the test too).
While we wait for food, letâs talk about beer, draft beer. Bud Light, Michelob Ultra, Miller Lite, Yuengling, Fiddlehead IPA. These options will not wow and it is honestly terrible as to a selection. There are plenty of local breweries in Erie and the IPA is the âname similar beerâ from Vermont. I get the attempt but it feels uninspired. #supportlocal
So as we wait for the food (928pm) I am looking around and wondering what would make this better? What is missing that would be cool and fun? Hmm. I think a shuffleboard table on the west wall (near the very cool hidden door) where the high chairs are located yeah, thatâs the ticket, shuffleboard!
Why is there a half witch looking woman doll hanging from the chandelier? (No picture, youâll need to come find and see for yourself)
Well, the food finally came and itâs what one might expect. Good wings(though I think my sauce was wrong), the fajita quesadilla was tasty, my wife was very pleased with her gyro (hee-roh/guy-roh) and a burger. Honestly the fries were a hit and Iâd love to see a pile of âFiddle Fries one dayâŚstraight cut, cheese sauce/curd and bacon served with their ranch (credits please!)
Needs: thereâs currently no kids menu aka âlittle Fiddlersâ better draft options chicken wing...
Read moreI'm not sure what to say first about this wonderful place I should start from the moment I walked through the door I loved the wood finish in the bar area, it reminded of an old hangout from the past. It's got that dank hole in the wall place feeling, which I love. The barmaid was very nice and friendly The menu is incredible and so very hard to decide on what I wanted to try for my first time So many things that sound so yummy I went with the mile high club sandwich WOWsers that is a large sandwich !!đ It's done right like a club should be, with ham, turkey and bacon! Let that be a lesson to the other places that makes you choose between ham or turkey or charge you more for both Very nicely priced I must say, I've seen other places about the same price, but you have to choose between ham or turkey There's so many things at good prices I think next time I visit the Fiddle Inn I am going try the mountain of meat sandwich or a pot roast sandwich, or there's the pork roast sandwich, or maybe the fish sandwich Such a ruff and tuff decision I will have to make on my next visit I see me having multiple visits to this wonderful eatery Ohhhhh snap I almost forgot to say how much deliciousness that Mile high club sandwich was It was a large and in charge sandwich and just as tasty as it was beautiful And it came with a nice handful of fries which makes it a whole meal that's tuff to finish, if you want to walk out before you need a dolly to rolled out with LOL I loved this place and I...
Read moreUnusually bad experience tonight. We love your chicken tenders. Stopped in tonight for dinner. Unfortunately we had Ryeleigh D. for our waitress. Ordered the chicken tender baskets. She asked if we wanted bone in or boneless? Again explained we wanted the tenders. Asked for everything sauce for him and sweet for me. Tenders came out burnt. Asked her why they were burnt and why she would bring them out like that? She said she didn't know and took them back. Next the cook came out. Wonderful young man (forgot to get his name. Brown curly hair) He explained they always look like that. We said ok and she brought them back out. She put them on the table and left. When I bit into mine, the breading was thick and uncooked and the fries were cold. Never saw the waitress again so I walked them back to the kitchen. The sweet young man offered to make me me ones. In a very short time, he returned with new tenders and hot fries and apologized for the first batch. The new tenders were great and fries were hot. We enjoyed our dinner. When we were done eating, I had to ask another waitress for a box and our bill. This waitress was so kind. I watched her open and hold the door for an elderly couple. What a sweetheart. Ryeleigh brought our bill, never made eye contact and left. I did go back to the kitchen and thank the young man that was so...
