Roosters Hen House LLC — Restaurant in Hardinsburg

The Seafood Platter at Rooster's Hen House in Hardinsburg IN is DEFINITELY worth the drive! My fiance and I decided to check it out this past Saturday night. (The Seafood Platter is the special every third Saturday night.)

The clams were NOT like rubber, as they are many other places! The clam chowder was thick and creamy, with plenty of clams and not so many potatoes. The cocktail sauce for the shrimp had a great horseradish bite, rather than being catsup that only hints at horseradish. The fish filet was large, with a little salt in the crispy cornmeal and cracker meal coating.

The three butterfly shrimp were crispy, while the three shrimp in the cocktail were perfectly chilled. The baked potato was the only thing "average" about the meal. I was a bit disappointed that they served tartar sauce in food service packets, but the fish really didn't need tartar sauce anyway. And the crab salad was imitation crab, but it was still tasty.

For $21.99 a person (plus drinks, tax, and tip), the price was reasonable. I say that because I ate my fill and still had what seems like half my meal to take home with me. Good food, good value for the money...I was...

Very friendly. The way to keep a room full of customers happy when they are packed into an open room with simple tables and chairs and an unevolving menu is to provide consistently good customer service. You can put tennis balls on the chair feet, have a table right beside the outside doors, keep the pie choices on the board up by the register and still keep customers coming back when the server/hostess/owner(?) is attentive, remembers who you are, and talks with you like you are important. Sure, this isn't a fancy place to take a prom date. But it's a wonderful place to take someone you love after you've worked hard all day or all week, and no one wants to cook and clean up. Food is good but service sucks they need improvement on their customer service was greeted by a guy who was really nice then had my order taken by a very "unfriendly lady" that was not even willing to give me a menu of what they had the building itself was tiny and not very accomedating.. the decor looks like they just found anything they could w chickens on it and threw it in there the refrisgerator and back counter area is out where everyone can see it not very well kept they even had tennis balls on the bottoms of the chairs it looks loke everything has just been thrown together in a hurry and nothing goes together food id good but the only way you even can find this place is if you already know it is here i would have never found the place unless i looked it up on google unless your a local you will be the lastperson they take care of when...
