Caja Madera — Restaurant in Hardwick

We had the Caja Madera food truck cater our wedding welcome party a few weeks ago and they were awesome! The tacos were delicious and authentic. Having the truck there really created a fun festival or fair style atmosphere for our party and the guests seemed to like it. The guys on the truck serving the tacos were all very nice and efficient. Booking them was a simple process as well, the contact person Bryan reached out quickly to my first inquiry. I had sent out emails to other catering companies during my search and many either didn't respond, responded weeks later, or were unwilling to travel (even within state). Not Caja Madera! They were always responsive to my emails and traveled from VT to our venue in NH for a reasonable fee. I really appreciated their customer service all around and...

Its good place with a nice vibe, but they have kids working there now, I applaud the kids and the family dynamic, but teach them. The quesadillas I just got there are pretty much just tortilla, a pinch of chicken and pinch of cheese is not how I remember this. I had a 5 star rating of this place, but its gone downhill a little. My unwarranted advice is, if you're gonna bring your family/kids into work and learn the business, then teach them. And instead of cutting costs by putting less food in or make the food smaller, charge a little more and keep the size and quality. Also bring back the burritos. They were the best burritos I've ever had.

Stopped here yesterday on a day trip through Vermont, and it was incredible. I can only compare it to Mosaic, an equally fantastic restaurant in my homestate of Maine, as far as flavors and quality are concerned, because both places put a lot of thought into what they're serving.

My husband tried the chorizo taco and I had the nopales with pinto beans. Corn tortillas were definitely made in house, plus the guacamole accompanying our chips was very fresh and delicious.

If our travels take us through Hardwick again on a sunny Friday afternoon, we'll be happy to make this a spot we return to.
