Day 534 of the quest to find a barrel aged stout with an ABV above 10% on draft in Harlingen. I had heard murmurs from locals about a place they called “final profundo” and a legendary self serving draft tap system. Alas, I arrived at this hidden gem during hora feliz. The rumors appeared to be true upon entry. The stainless steel draft system welcomed me with the warm glow of LCD displays and the alluring aroma of hops. The establishments ambiance was festive with ritualistic bar games like pool, pop a shot, darts and even a golf simulator. Food fare was standard, decently prepared and fresh. I approached the priestess behind the service shrine and provided my monetary sacrifice. In return I was endowed with a religious talisman in the form of a bracelet. I approached the draft system with giddy anticipation of the craft drafts that awaited me. Finally with the wave of my magic bracelet, would I find the elusive 10% BA Stout on tap? Nay… I did find a Dogfish Head 90 min IPA which would have to do. The remaining taps offered basic macro-manufactured beers one can find at HEB. It is my hope that this temple one day finds the strength to acquire the same styles of unique draft beers as seen in shrines a few miles away in McAllen at university draft house and yard house. We will try again...
Read moreSo it's a nice looking place it's clean while I'm here they seem to be playing country music but they do have a jukebox. menu is limited to pizzas hot dogs a chicken sandwich and some nachos they're overpriced regular price is $11 bus tax for six wings. the pizzas are around made in house with pre-made crust from one of those big wholesalers and then they add the toppings. so basically it tastes like a pizza from a box. Their menu is pre-made snack bar food like a Mexican movie theater.thrte are five pool tables for a large bar. So if there's a crowd probably be prepared to wait again nice concept I wish them success but unless you really want to drink a lot of beer fast which is convenient for the self-serve beer on tap but if you want to eat there's just so many better options. And even on sale the beer even isn't really that good a price.Time will tell definitely worth taking a look at maybe just up your alley but I don't see myself being a regular. In my opinion if they want to be a good bar of their friendly just going to need better food service limited options if you just want to go in and play a game and sit around a lot of space even Chuck e cheese...
Read moreArrived to the place with a party larger than 7-8 people, nobody came up to us to put tables/chairs together or anything. Server comes to us and we (2 males well over the age of 21) ask for 2 bracelets for the beer wall and we tell our wives (well over the age of 21) not to worry, that we'll pour their drinks so we won't have too many bracelets. Server says that apparently as per TABC we can't pour beer/wines from the wall to anybody who doesn't present ID. TABC clearly states, as per Section 106.05(b)(2) states that a minor may possess an alcoholic beverage if they are in the visible presence of their adult parent, guardian, or spouse even tho they were over the age of 21. MANAGER (Male) was ridiculous and stated he didn't even know the law about it and said "I'm just following rules" but never stated where exactly is rules were coming from. Honestly all around poor service and lack of knowledge from a MANAGER which is crazy. Embarrassing that I had to walk out from family/friends coming from out of town and having recommended the place so much. Would say it is not worth going especially if going from...
