I’ve never been to such a terrible restaurant in such a beautiful place. I hesitate to write this as I was hoping somebody cared enough to call me back or at least cared enough about their business. I went to this restaurant last Sunday with my husband and we ordered lunch. He had a scallop basket, I had a Crabster. We had a bottle of water and a can of seltzer it all came to $78. I can’t tell what I was charged because I never received a receipt. The bathroom was a mess and definitely needed deep cleaning. There were two large trash cans along the deck where tables were situated, overflowing with trash with big black flies were buzzing around it. Despite these issues we were enjoying our lunch mainly because of the beautiful surroundings. The scenery was incredible. We arrived home about two hours later. I was feeling fine and did a few little things around the house, but suddenly my stomach wasn’t feeling well. I thought I thought I will try to fight this off and pretend maybe it’ll pass. Within a few minutes, I was unable to fight it off and went into the bathroom and was violently ill. I threw up everything that was in my stomach. Shortly after when I was able to compose myself, I gave a call to the restaurant -they were closed. I left a message on their phone to please call me back since there should be people closing up cleaning up. I got no call. Although I felt better after vomiting I did call Maine Medical Center and they couldn’t give any advice over the phone. I called Holbrook’s back Monday, left another message. I followed their direction of trying to contact them on Facebook. I left a chat message asking them to call me. I got no call. I called them repeatedly on Wednesday when they were open again and no one answered. I added a message to my chat on Facebook, but I received no response. Clearly I had Food poisoning From eating the Crabster (crabmeat in the bottom of a roll, with lobster meat on top) This quote from a medical website: “Classical food poisoning with staphylococcal organisms usually appears within three hours of eating the contaminated food. The illness normally begins with nausea, leading to severe vomiting.” So beware of Holbrook’s Wharf, they don’t care, even about their business. My family and I will never return.
Addendum: After 8 days, the owner finally called but it was an inaudible car call. She said she would call back, but of course, she didn’t. We received no other calls on our answering machine. PS I had a small breakfast at 6:30am- I was not sick from eating...
Read moreTLDR: Just visit this place, you will not regret it! This place is one of the best places we’ve had in Maine and we’ve been to quite a few restaurants in the past 3 years visiting Maine. The service was exceptional as well, Liza was one of the nicest people we have meet in Maine and gave great recommendations. We will definitely be coming back in the future!
Review: We have been to Portland, Bar Harbor and Brunswick. We’ve tried many places and out of them all I have to say hands down this is one of not the best spot we have had the pleasure of visiting. My wife had a basket of Haddock and Scallops w/ fries. I ordered a basket w/ a shrimp roll and had a bowl of lobster stew. The fries were hot, crispy and soft on the inside. The Haddock was nice and tender on the inside while still being crispy. The lobster roll was fantastic! It had a great amount of lobster and the bread was crispy. The price was also good given the amount of food you get. The service was amazing, Liza was super nice and one of the nicest people in Maine we have had the pleasure of meeting. Honestly this was a gem of a find in Maine. We will definitely be back for more...
Read moreMy husband and I ate at your restaurant this past Saturday and it was such a wonderful experience. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. We bought two 2lb lobsters from the shop next door, which were at an amazingly low price. Holbrook steamed our lobster, to perfection. Holbrook's also supplied us with coleslaw, butter, lemon, and everything else we needed to have a wonderful lobster feast! Liza, the friendly young lady that waited on us made sure that we had everything we needed and she was so friendly that I thought that I had known her for years. We also had interaction with the other two people working behind the counter who were just as friendly and accommodating. The scenery was spectacular. The restroom was very clean, which is amazing considering the amount of people being served everyday! We will definitely be going back there, and we plan on bringing our family and friends 🧡 thank you for a wonderful,...
