Regarding the moonlit glow paddle only: Just some suggestions after taking a very disappointing glow trip tonight. No matter how early we got there we didn't get to the kayaks until put in time so there was no time to decorate a kayak. We felt very rushed once we got to the kayaks. The only glow parade happening was in our imagination. It was misleading to say parade as part of the group quickly got put in and my guest and I went in last and very separated. It was dark so what was the glow part? No form of solar, uv nor black light was provided so I'm not sure why you even referred to it as a glow any thing. We were alone on our 1st river kayak trip. We bought and brought plenty of glow items to decorate the kayaks. Between us we own 4 kayaks and would've much rather decorated our own 2 kayaks and floated for free. In the beginning we felt as if we were left behind as the only glow ahead of us was nearly out of sight. We thought this was a guided trip down the river. If there were guides other than the barely visible glow sticks in the water we couldn't find them. I feel like I paid 30 bucks for a 10 dollar bag and use of crappy kayaks. Half of them didn't have seats and the paddles had no rings so we got soaked in the beginning to go along with the rushed left behind anxiety we felt. If your going to call it a glow paddle something needs to make that neon glow. For 100 bucks you could've lit the river with solar uv or black lights. The very inexpensive bags with inexpensive flasher lights were the only glow to the night. I was very much looking forward to this group paddle that was going to glow with at least some kind of decorate kayak. They had none when I was told there would be some. I guess the flashers in the bag were for the kayak and had to be put on after we were put in the water. Luckily we are experienced lake kayaker and were comfortable moving around in the kayaks. Had it been our first ever trip I would be driving back tomorrow to tell you this in person and making a Google review telling everyone to save their money. I was ready to bring a larger group of friends in September for the witchy trip but I do believe I will save my money on that one. I may have gotten to enjoy a quater to half the trip by the time we got flashers placed on the kayaks, anxiety calmed when we could hear the current but couldn't see what kind of rapid it could be and to realize we didn't need a guide anyways. The last question of a mile we put music on the phone, let the kayaks float backwards and enjoyed what was left of the trip. We have an ocean kayak trip planned for the end of summer and it is worth the money. Your web information should state there are no lighting provided at all that it is strictly a night river paddle, there are no guides that we saw, there should be no mention of glowing, and the condition of your kayaks should be made. They float. That's it. Half have broken straps and/or seats. Few have paddle rings. Also parade should be removed as a parade is a well organized group. This strictly seemed to be about profit with employees that were ready to go home so don't do the 10pm trip. Even when it was time to disembark the 1st paddlers were assisted while the end paddlers were left on their own. When my friend left something behind and I returned to get it someone made a comment about the kayak being left in the water, that was where we were left. It felt like we could've turned our flashers off and continued to float down river and no one would've noticed, as if anyone even knew how many paddlers you put in the water. I realize this was your first night glow paddle but as an "experience resort" safety beyond crappy life jackets felt nonexistant. I expected better and it could have been so much better. A few more dollars spent from a sold out event , for even temu lighting, more organization, safety and explanation of guides and what to expect, and made an actual group or parade type event would've raised the enjoyment level enough to where I would've excitedly returned with my entire kayak...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreMy recent dining experience at Rustic River Resort in Tazewell, TN was nothing short of extraordinary, thanks to our exceptional server, Hannah. Seated on the patio by the serene river, we were immediately captivated by the lively atmosphere, enhanced by delightful music that set the perfect backdrop for a memorable meal. Great way to spend the day with my husband for Fatherās Day!
Hannah's attentiveness and enthusiasm were apparent from the moment we arrived. She welcomed us warmly and took the time to make several thoughtful recommendations that showcased her deep knowledge of the menu. We started with the fried tomatoes, a dish that was crisp and flavorful, setting a high standard for the rest of our meal.
Hannahās suggestion of the pork spud was a standout, offering a perfect blend of hearty flavors. I decided to try the Rustic River cheese sticks, an already popular choice, but i added BBQ pork and banana peppers. This unique combination, although not listed on the menu, was a revelation and should undoubtedly become a permanent fixture due to its perfect balance of savory and spicy notes.
To conclude our meal, we indulged in the carrot cake, which Hannah highly recommended. It was, quite simply, to die for ā moist, rich, and beautifully spiced, a perfect end to our culinary journey.
Hannah's exemplary service, coupled with the vibrant yet relaxing riverfront ambiance, made this dining experience truly exceptional. Her ability to anticipate our needs and her keen suggestions significantly enhanced our visit. If you find yourself in Tazewell, TN, do yourself a favor and dine at Rustic River Resort ā and be sure to ask for Hannah. Her impeccable service and the delightful menu will undoubtedly leave a...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreCute restaurant on the river. The food was fine/good. The waitresses were nice. The reason I'm leaving a 2 star review is because of the way they handled a situation. I paid by credit card (by the way, there is a surcharge if you pay with card versus cash). I'm okay with that. Anyway, I got my bill a few weeks after we ate there and we were overcharged (above and beyond the grand total, including tip). Apparently the waitress just keyed in the wrong amount. When I called to see if I could get a refund for the amount that was overcharged, the manager I spoke with was rude to me. He acted like I was being difficult for bringing it up a few weeks after the fact. I just got my bill! That's why I didn't call earlier. He made it clear that it would be a big hassle to refund me at this point, and asked if I could come in with my receipt and the amount billed. We aren't local, so he said he could mail me cash if I texted him all this information. My cheeks actually turned red when he was talking to me like I had done something wrong/was being petty. I was actually not sure I should text him my name and address as much as he embarrassed me on the phone. Really, he should have started off by apologizing for overcharging us and asking how he could make it right. Money is tight everywhere right now and he could have been understanding about me not wanting to pay more than the amount agreed to. I took pictures of my bill and credit card statement and started to text him all this and then figured it probably wasn't worth "bothering" him anymore about it. Sadly, we won't be going back. Any place that makes me feel that bad isn't worth...
