Osaka Hartselle — Restaurant in Hartselle

First off, this review has nothing to do with the fault of the waitress. She did very well considering the rest of the experience.

The Gyoza was decent but clearly pre-packaged. The takoyaki was literally raw batter in the inside. My daughter and I had sushi rolls for lunch and the flavor was as underwhelming as you could get. My miso soup had more complex and nuanced flavor than anything else we had there. The unsweetened tea actually had an aftertaste that resembled tobacco.

While the waitress was attentive, three different tables that got seated ten to fifteen minutes after us got their food in half the time. It shouldn't take any halfway decent sushi chef half an hour to make four rolls. (Especially as bland as they were.)

If you want anything resembling even halfway decent sushi, go elsewhere.

I have no idea what the people who say this place has the best sushi in Alabama have been eating. Fishing bait or something. But they clearly don't have any idea...

I cannot believe how my daughter and her children were treated today. There was a long black hair in her food, she’s a natural blonde…so not her hair. She asked for it to be sent back, naturally, and they took the plate away… brought the SAME plate back and said ‘ma’am there was no hair”. Ummmm..yes there was she said, YOU SAW IT. Then the waitress had the audacity to ask her “well then what do you want?” What do I want?? I want hair free food, I want the respect of a paying customer and maybe the consideration of bringing me another plate. Preferably one without hair or any other body parts. And she STILL HAD TO PAY FOR IT!!! Then copped an attitude for not leaving a tip… are you kidding me??!!! Trust me we will never return. I cannot believe the way she was treated and was shown no kindness nor compassion. Done done...

The very first time my wife and I went to Osaka it was a couple of weeks after it first opened and things did not go very well, but let me tell you we went back yesterday and it was an amazing experience! It was like two different restaurants. The staff was super friendly and attentive , the food was delicious and brought out not long after ordering and the prices are not bad at all! Osaka has definitely restored my faith in them and their restaurant and we will be coming back more often!

We ordered the miso soup and ginger salad which were very refreshing and we ordered the volcano roll the deep fried California roll and the snow mountain roll and mannnnn they were to die for! Delicious! 🤤 😋

My wife is pregnant and ordered her a side of noodles and steak filet and they were delicious as well!
