My family and I stopped by here after spending some time at a nearby beach. There were about 10 of us meeting for lunch. The cafe is on a corner and very easy to spot from traffic. The parking lot was relatively full and there wasn't a lot of parking as the lot was fairly small. Once you walk in there is a buffet line but it was not a buffet style restaurant. We were seated in an area which leads to another room that had a bar and a small stage for live music. Once seated we got menus quickly and were offered fruit juices which were delicious. The fruit punch was very tropical in flavor. I ordered a salad and ham and cheese sandwich which was more than enough food. My son ordered fried chicken and French fries and my other son ordered a cheeseburger. My mother ordered an appetizer plate with a variety of fried foods. It had fried chicken, fried cheese, beef pastelillos (empanada), corn fritters, and fried pork cubes. Everything tasted really good and came out quickly for the amount of food that was ordered. We were done within an hour eating and paying. For 10 meals, 2 appetizers, and drinks it came out to $150 with tip included. We also bought a variety of candy at the register. We bought some lollipops and a candy called gofio which is a corn based powder candy which is a blast to eat and say the word gofio while eating because it flies everywhere. This spot is good for a quick lunch or a quick snack no matter how many people are...
Read moreVisiting Puerto Rico with my kids and family decided to stop by El Buen Café. We were greeted in the entrance. I was telling stories to my kids of memories of my childhood coming to El Buen Café. Ordered 2 soups that were pictured in the menu, a platano soup and a chicken soup. They brought the wrong chicken soup but didn't complained as it was a chicken soup as well. Just to get the bill and be charged $14 instead of $6. I went to talk to the waiter about it very diacretely and she just said that we ate the aoup and had to pay for it. Then I talked to the Manager and hia reaponse was "let me ask you a question, did you eat the soup?" which I responded "let me ask you a question, did y'all do a mistake by delivering the wrong soup? ". The manager was very upset telling me he will discount it for me but that they never do this and will never do it again which I replied you don't have to worry because I won't be coming here again and he yelled at me saying "then don't come back, you were saying you didn't wanted to be here since you arrived". I felt humiliated and mistreated. I never raised my voice, said thank you to the...
Read moreWhere do we begin😀? Firstly, not being fluent in Spanish is a challenge in itself vacationing here, however, from the moment we walked into El Buen, we were greeted by Francisco who is the manager and his customer service skills coupled with him speaking English was unsurpassed 😀. He made us feel as though we were the only customers there giving us his undivided attention. He offered to email me their latest menu since they didn't have one to take out. We returned after shopping for take out and the food was delicious😀. We ordered the chicken alfredo pork chops with smashed potatoes and mixed veggies and everything was wonderful. We also grabbed a few pastries to take out as well😀. But as we were paying for our food Francisco called me back to sample their delicious homemade juices,ie-tamarind,orange and other flavors and they were all good. A special shout out to Gustavo as well for his superior service as well😉. El Buen Cafe thanks to Francisco and his staff is a True Gem and we look forward to returning...
