We went last night. I really wanted to like this place! We are always looking for a nice Irish restaurant. When we walked up there was a sign telling us to go to the bar for a table. We stood there and no one even looked in our direction. There were 4 customers at the bar and 2 tables with people at the bar, and 2 tables with people on the restaurant side. Eventually we just picked a table near the bar and sat down. I asked the girl at the bar if it was ok if we sat there and she said yes. Unfortunately the table was dirty, but we assumed someone would address that shortly. We sat for 20 minutes and not a single person addressed us. My husband got up to the bathroom and grabbed wet paper towels to clean the table. A gentleman did come over after we flagged him down and asked if we had been helped. He was nice but inexperienced (and that's ok everyone has to learn sometimes) he couldn't tell us anything about the beers, or the food, and he would take drinks or food when we weren't finished. We only ordered appetizers and soup, because no one ever came back to take our order. The server didn't come back for an HOUR. When we finished our 1st round of beer there was a bug in the bottom of my husband's. We had to go to the bar to get our drinks. We still were going to give it a chance. We got an update from our server that the kitchen was behind but our food would be out shortly. We had soup and mozzarella sticks... When we got it my husband took a bite of his soup and just pushed it to me.. I tasted it and was like "why does the soup taste like peanut butter??" 𤣠Unfortunately we realized we couldn't really recover after all that so we decided to get our tab and leave.
Pros - live music was great š mozzarella sticks were good, real, not frozen. Decor is welcoming.
Cons- Slooow service, and I'm not sure if it was inexperience, or what, but there was absolutely no urgency to help anyone from the employees there. The bug and food issue listed above.
Not the restaurants fault but there was an odd feeling in the place. Like no one was really talking to each other. Everyone just looked at phones (more than the typical) or sat there, the happiness you usually experience in a pub was not there, so for a Sat night that was interesting.
After reading reviews I see this place has only been open for about 3 months, so they have some things to work out. (And for that alone I added a star.) I hope I can convince my husband to come back because I think they...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreIāve never left a review for OTR but recently found out that because a review the owner didnāt like started with ājā I was accused so I will now share my opinion of the place. As far as staff, there are some great ones, As far as food, I wouldnāt step in there if they paid me so I dont know. As far as people, Some of the best and worst of Havana congregate there. A lot of them do it to gossip about others and itās nothing I was apart of while was there nor would I touch being gone. The owner claims to have a sympathetic ear as he posted above. When I never noticed any āearā so to speak of at all. Unless you were contributing to their thoughts . The only situation I can speak of is his ability to take an u unknown persons (to them) word over someone heās known had been trustworthy and loyal. I also know that someone who makes the right decisions doesnāt always have to boast about always making those right decisions. Iām also of the opinion that drunks shouldnāt run bars. Thatās what OTR is, never was a family restaurant. So if your looking for that bar experience, where you can spread all kinds of unverified facts these are the reporters to go drink with. Now Iāve left MY opinionā¦nothing moreā¦that way it canāt be confused with another email...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreIāve eaten at Off the Rails several times. Today is St. Patrickās Day, and they were extremely understaffed. A woman walked in who was very unhappy and not so quiet about it. The waitress she was belittling advised she could leave after talking to her for about ten minutes in front of other people, and she was not having it. She continued to be rude and belittling to the wait staff. The bartender, Trish had enough of the belittling and told her to leave. The owner comes over and gives her a free drink. That is not how you treat your staff, you should always back your staff. The woman should have been walked out the door but was treated like royalty instead. Also, the owner should know to be better prepared for a holiday known for the Irish at an Irish pub. I was disappointed because I was there for two hours because they had one person cooking the food. If you cannot handle the number of people, close the doors. Iām leaving a picture of said woman who would not leave.
Update: I removed the photo, but I stand by what I said. Back your wait staff. That lady was nasty, came in last minute, and you treated her like a queen. Deesculating a situation is one thing, but she treated your...
